एक महात्मा गंगा किनारे घूम रहे थे। एक दिन उन्होंने संकल्प कियाः ʹआज किसी से भी भिक्षा नहीं माँगूगा।
जब मैं परमात्मा का हो गया, संन्यासी हो गया तो फिर अन्य किसी से क्या माँगना ?
जब तक परमात्मा स्वयं आकर भोजन के लिए न पूछेगा तब तक किसी से न लूँगा।ʹ यह संकल्प करके, नहा-धोकर वे गंगा-तट पर बैठ गये।इस भाव और पूरे मनोयोग से भगवान श्री कृष्ण को नमन कर उनकी मानसिक पूजा का अतुल्य पुण्य प्राप्त होता है। श्री कृष्ण की दिव्यता को प्रकट करता यह स्वरूप अत्यन्त मनोहारी है, इसी समय भगवान ने अर्जुन को अपने विराट स्वरूप के दर्शन कराये थे। जिस विराट स्वरूप में सम्पूर्ण सृष्टि समाहित थी।

सुबह बीती… दोपहर हुई…. एक दो बज गये… भूख भी लगी किन्तु श्रद्धा के बल से वे बैठे रहे। उन्हें सुबह से वहीं बैठा हुआ देखकर किसी सदगृहस्थ ने पूछाः
“बाबा ! भोजन करेंगे ?”
“नहीं।”
“मेरे साथ चलेंगे ?”
“नहीं।”
गृहस्थ अपने घर गया लेकिन भोजन करने को मन नहीं माना।
वह अपनी पत्नी से बोलाः “बाहर एक महात्मा भूखे बैठे हैं। हम कैसे खा सकते हैं ?”
यह सुनकर पत्नी ने भी नहीं खाया। इतने में स्कूल से उनकी बेटी घर आ गयी।
थोड़ी देर बाद उनका बेटा भी आ गया। दोनों को भूख लगी थी किन्तु वस्तुस्थिति जानकर वे भी भूखे रहे।
सब मिलकर उन संन्यासी के पास गये और बोलेः “चलिए महात्मन् ! भोजन ग्रहण कर लीजिए।”
महात्मा ने सोचा कि एक नहीं तो दूसरा व्यक्ति आकर तंग करेगा।
अतः वे बोलेः “मेरे भोजन के बाद मुझे जिस घर से सौ अश्वमेध यज्ञों की दक्षिणा मिलेगी, उसी घर का भोजन करूँगा।”
घर आकर नन्हीं बालिका पूजा-कक्ष में बैठी एवं परमात्मा से प्रार्थना करने लगी।
शुद्ध हृदय से, आर्त भाव से की गयी प्रार्थना तो प्रभु सुनते ही हैं। अतः उसके हृदय में भी परमात्म-प्रेरणा हुई।
वह पूजा-कक्ष से बाहर आयी। अपने भाई के हाथ में पानी का लोटा दिया एवं स्वयं भोजन की थाली सजाकर, दूसरी थाली से ढँककर भाई को छिड़कता हुआ जा रहा था।
पानी के छिड़कने से शुद्ध बने हुए मार्ग पर वह पीछे-पीछे चल रही थी। आखिर में बच्ची ने जाकर संन्यासी के चरणों में थाल रखा एवं भोजन करने की प्रार्थना कीः
“महाराज ! आप भोजन कीजिये। आप दक्षिणा के रूप में सौ अश्वमेध यज्ञों का फल चाहते हैं न ? वह हम आपको दे देंगे।”
संन्यासीः “तुमने, तुम्हारे पिता एवं दादा ने एक भी अश्वमेध यज्ञ नहीं किया होगा फिर तुम सौ अश्वमेध यज्ञों का फल कैसे दे सकती हो ?”
बच्चीः “महाराज ! आप भोजन कीजिए। सौ अश्वमेध यज्ञों का फल हम आपको अर्पण करते हैं। शास्त्रों में लिखा है किः ʹभगवान के सच्चे भक्त जहाँ रहते हैं, वहाँ पर एक-एक कदम चलकर जाने से एक-एक अश्वमेध यज्ञ का फल होता है।ʹ
महाराज ! आप जहाँ बैठे हैं, वहाँ से हमारा घर 200-300 कदम दूर है। इस प्रकार हमें इतने अश्वमेध यज्ञों का फल मिला।
इनमें से सौ अश्वमेध यज्ञों का फल हम आपके चरणों में अर्पित करते हैं, बाकी हमारे भाग्य में रहेगा।”
उस बालिका की तर्कयुक्त एवं अंतःप्रेरित बात सुनकर संन्यासी ने उस बच्ची को धन्यवाद देते हुए भोजन स्वीकार कर लिया।
कैसे हैं वे सबके अंतर्यामी प्रेरक परमेश्वर ! भक्त अपने संकल्प के कारण कहीं भूखा न रह जाये, यह सोचकर उन्होंने ठीक व्यवस्था कर ही दी।
यदि कोई उनको पाने के लिए दृढ़तापूर्वक संकल्प करके चलता है तो उसके योगक्षेम का वहन वे सर्वेश्वर स्वयं करते हैं।

A Mahatma was roaming on the banks of the Ganges. One day he took a resolution: ‘Today I will not beg from anyone.
When I belong to God, when I have become a sannyasin, then what to ask from anyone else?
Until God Himself comes and asks for food, I will not take it from anyone. Having taken this resolution, after bathing and washing, he sat down on the banks of the Ganges.
Morning passed… afternoon happened…. It was one or two o’clock… He was also hungry, but with the power of devotion, he kept sitting. Seeing him sitting there since morning, a family member asked:
“Dad ! Will you eat?
“No.”
“Will you come with me?”
“No.”
The householder went to his home but did not feel like eating.
He said to his wife: “A Mahatma is sitting outside hungry. How can we eat?
Even the wife did not eat after hearing this. Meanwhile, his daughter came home from school.
After a while his son also came. Both were hungry, but knowing the facts, they also remained hungry.
Everyone together went to that monk and said: “Come on Mahatman! Take food.
Mahatma thought that if not one or the other person would come and trouble him.
So he said: “After my meal, I will eat the food of the house from which I will get the dakshina of hundred Ashwamedha Yagyas.”
After coming home, the little girl sat in the worship room and started praying to God.
God always listens to the prayer done with a pure heart, with a lot of emotion. That’s why there was divine inspiration in his heart too.
She came out of the worship room. He put a pot of water in his brother’s hand and decorated the plate of food himself, covered it with another plate and sprinkled it on his brother.
She was walking back and forth on a path made pure by the sprinkling of water. At last the girl went and placed the plate at the feet of the hermit and prayed for food:
“King ! You eat You want the fruits of hundred Ashwamedha yagyas as Dakshina, don’t you? We will give that to you.
Sanyasi: “You, your father and grandfather would not have performed a single Ashwamedha Yagya, then how can you give the result of hundred Ashwamedha Yagya?”
Girl: ′′ Maharaj! You eat We offer to you the fruits of hundred Ashwamedha Yagyas. It is written in the scriptures that: ʹwhere the true devotees of the Lord live, each and every Ashwamedha Yagya bears fruit by going there step by step.ʹ
King ! Our house is 200-300 steps away from where you are sitting. In this way we got the result of so many Ashwamedha Yagyas.
Out of these, we offer the fruit of one hundred Ashwamedha Yagyas at your feet, the rest will be in our destiny.
After listening to the reasoned and inspired talk of that girl, the hermit thanked the girl and accepted the food.
How is He the innermost motivator of all! Thinking that the devotee should not go hungry because of his resolve, he made proper arrangements.
If someone moves with determination to achieve them, then the Supreme Lord Himself takes care of his Yogakshema.
