राजकोटमें काठियावाड़ राज्य प्रजा परिषद्का अधिवेशन हो रहा था। बापू अन्य नेताओंके साथ मंचपर बैठे थे। इसी बीच उनकी निगाह दूर बैठे एक वृद्धपर पड़ी। स्मृतिपर जोर दिया, तो लगा अरे! ये तो मेरे बचपनके अध्यापक हैं। बापू मंचसे उतरकर उनके पास गये, प्रणाम करके उनके चरणोंके पास बैठ गये, परिवारका कुशलक्षेम पूछा। गद्गद शिक्षकने अनुरोध किया- ‘अब आप ऊपर मंचपर चले जायँ।’ पर गाँधीजी मंचपर न जाकर वहीं
बैठे। सभा समाप्त होनेपर गाँधीजीको आशीष मिला ‘तुम जैसा अहंकाररहित ही महान् कहलानेका सच्चा अधिकारी हो सकता है। खूब आगे बढ़ो।’

The session of the Kathiawar Rajya Praja Parishad was being held in Rajkot. Bapu was sitting on the dais with other leaders. Meanwhile, his eyes fell on an old man sitting far away.
