नामनिन्दासे नाक कट गयी

एक बार भक्त हरिदासजी सप्तग्रामके जमींदार हिरण्य मजूमदारके यहाँ हरिनामका माहात्म्य वर्णन करते हुए बोले कि ‘

भक्तिपूर्वक हरिनाम लेनेसे जीवके हृदयमें जो भक्ति-प्रेमका संचार होता है, वही हरिनाम लेनेका फल है।’

इसी बातचीतके सिलसिलेमें जमींदारके गोपाल चक्रवर्ती नामक एक कर्मचारीने हरिनामकी निन्दा की और यह कहा कि-‘ये सब भावुकताकी बातें हैं। यदिहरिनामसे ही मनुष्यकी नीचता मिटती हो तो मैं अपनी नाक कटवा डालूँ।’ हरिदासजीने भी बड़ी दृढ़तासे उत्तर दिया कि – ‘भाई! यदि हरिनाम स्मरण और हरिनाम जपसे मनुष्यको मुक्ति न मिले तो मैं भी अपनी नाक कटवा डालूँगा।’

कहते हैं कि दो-तीन महीने बाद ही गोपाल चक्रवर्तीकी नाक कुष्ठरोगसे गलकर गिर पड़ी। हरिनाम – निन्दाका फल प्रत्यक्ष हो गया।

Once devotee Haridasji while describing the greatness of Harinam at the landlord of Saptagram, Hiranya Majumdar, said that ‘The devotion-love that is infused in the heart of a living being by reciting Harinam with devotion, is the result of reciting Harinam.’ In connection with this conversation, an employee named Gopal Chakraborty of the landlord criticized Harinam and said- ‘These are all matters of sentimentality. If the meanness of a man can be removed only by the name of Harin, then I will get my nose cut.’ Haridasji also replied very strongly that – ‘Brother! If man does not get salvation by remembering Harinam and chanting Harinam, then I will also get my nose cut.’ It is said that after two-three months, Gopal Chakraborty’s nose fell off due to leprosy. Harinam – The result of blasphemy has become visible.
