कौड़ियोंसे भी कम कीमत

एक जिज्ञासुने किसी संतसे पूछा- ‘महाराज ! राम नाममें कैसे प्रेम हो तथा कैसे भजन बने ?’

संत बोले- भाई! रामनामका मूल्य, उसका महत्त्व समझनेसे प्रेम होता है और तभी भजन होता है।’

‘महाराज! मूल्य और महत्व तो कुछ-कुछ समझमें आता है परंतु भजन नहीं होता।’ “क्या भूल समझमें आता है समझमें आया होता तो क्या यह प्रश्न शेष रह जाता। फिर तो भजन ही

होता। अभीतक तो तुम राम नामको कौड़ियोंसे भी

कम कीमती समझते हो!”

महाराज! यह कैसे ? कौड़ियोंके साथ राम- नामको तुलना कैसी ?”

‘अच्छा तो बतलाओ तुम्हारी वार्षिक आय अधिक अधिक क्या है?” ‘अनुमान पैंतालीस-पचास हजार रुपये।’

‘अच्छा तो अब विचार करो। व्यापारी हो, हिसाब लगाओ। वार्षिक पैंतालीस-पचास हजारके मानी हुए मासिक लगभग चार हजार रुपये और दैनिक लगभग एक सौ चालीस रुपये दिन रातके चौबीस घंटेकीतुम्हारी आमदनी एक सौ चालीस रुपये हैं, इस हिसाब से एक घंटेमें लगभग पौने छः रुपये और एक मिनटमें डेढ़ आना आमदनी होती है। अब जरा सोचो, उसी एक मिनटमें तुम कम-से-कम डेढ़ सौ राम नामका बड़े आरामसे उच्चारण कर सकते हो। अर्थात् – जितनी देरमें छ: पैसे पैदा होते हैं, उतनी देरमें डेढ़ सौ राम-नाम आते हैं। अभिप्राय यह कि एक पैसेमें पचीस राम-नाम हुए। इतनेपर भी पैसेके लिये तो खूब चेष्टा करते हो और राम-नामके लिये नहीं। अब बताओ तुमने राम-नामका महत्त्व और मूल्य कौड़ियोंके बराबर भी कहाँ समझा ? यह हिसाब तो पैंतालीस पचास हजारकी वार्षिक आयवालेका है। साधारण आयवाले लोग हिसाब लगाकर देखें और समझें कि राम-नामकी वे कितनी कम कीमत आँकते हैं।’ ‘महाराज ! बात तो ऐसी ही है।’

‘इसीसे कहता हूँ-सोचो, विचारो, हिसाबकी भूलको सुधारो और समयका सदुपयोग करो। सदुपयोग यही है कि समयको निरन्तर नाम-जपमें लगाओ।’

A curious person asked a saint – ‘ Maharaj! How can there be love in the name of Ram and how can hymns be made?
Saint said – Brother! Understanding the value of the name of Ram, its importance leads to love and only then does bhajan take place.’
‘King! Value and importance are understood to some extent but there is no bhajan. “Does it make sense to forget? Had it been understood, would this question have remained? Then only hymns
Would. Till now you have given the name of Ram even with pennies.
Undervalued!”
King! How come ? How is the name of Ram compared with cowries?
‘Well then tell me what is your annual income more?’ ‘Estimate forty-five to fifty thousand rupees.’
‘Well then think now. You are a businessman, calculate. Assuming an annual rate of forty-five-fifty thousand, monthly is approximately four thousand rupees and daily is approximately one hundred and forty rupees, twenty-four hours a day, your income is one hundred and forty rupees, according to this, approximately one and a quarter to six rupees in an hour and one and a half anna in a minute. Now just think, in the same one minute you can pronounce at least one hundred and fifty names of Ram very comfortably. Means – in the time it takes six paise to be born, in that time one hundred and fifty Ram-names come. The meaning is that in one paise there were twenty-five names of Ram. Despite this, you try a lot for money and not for the name of Ram. Now tell me, where did you understand the importance and value of Ram’s name even equal to pennies? This account is of the one with an annual income of forty-five and fifty thousand. People with ordinary income should calculate and understand how little they value the name of Ram.’ ‘King ! The matter is like this only.
‘ This is why I say – think, think, correct the mistake of calculation and make good use of time. The best use is to devote time to chanting the name continuously.
