संतकी सहनशीलता

एक महात्मा जंगलमें कुटिया बनाकर एकान्तमें रहते थे। उनके अक्रोध, क्षमा, शान्ति, निर्मोहिता आदि गुणोंकी ख्याति दूर-दूर तक फैली हुई थी। मनुष्य पर गुण- असहिष्णु होता है। उनकी शान्ति भंग करके क्रोध दिलाया जाय- इसकी होड़ लगी। दो मनुष्योंने इसका बीड़ा लिया। वे महात्माकी कुटियापर गये। एकने कहा- ‘महाराज ! जरा गाँजेकी चिलम तो लाइये।’ महात्मा बोले— ‘भाई! मैं गाँजा नहीं पीता।’ उसने फिर कहा- ‘अच्छा तो तमाखू लाओ।’ महात्माने कहा ‘मैंने कभी तमाखूका व्यवहार नहीं किया ।’ उसने कहा- ‘तब बाबा बनकर जंगलमें क्यों बैठा है ? धूर्त कहीँका।’ इतनेमें पूर्व योजनाके अनुसार बहुत-से लोग वहाँ जमा हो गये। उस आदमीने सबको सुनाकर फिरकहा- ‘पूरा ठग है, चार बार तो जेलकी हवा खा चुका | है।’ उसके दूसरे साथीने कहा- ‘अरे भाई! मैं खूब जानता हूँ, मैं साथ ही तो था । जेलमें इसने मुझको डंडोंसे मारा था, ये देखो उसके निशान। रातको | रामजनियोंके साथ रहता है, दिनमें बड़ा संत बन जाता है।’ यों वे दोनों एक-से-एक बढ़कर- झूठे आरोप लगाने लगे, कैसे ही महात्माको क्रोध आ जाय, अन्तमें | महात्माके माता-पिताको, उनके साधनको तथा वेशको भी गाली बकने लगे। बकते-बकते सारा भण्डार खाली हो गया। वे चुप हो गये। तब महात्माने हँसकर कहा ‘एक भक्तने शक्करकी पुड़िया दी है, इसे जरा पानीमें डालकर पी लो। (शक्करकी पुड़िया आगे रखकर कहा) भैया! थक गये होओगे।’वह मनुष्य महात्माके चरणोंपर पड़ गया और बोला- ‘मुझे क्षमा कीजिये महाराज ! मैंने आपका बड़ा अपराध किया है। हमलोगोंके इतना करनेपर भी महाराज ! आपको क्रोध कैसे नहीं आया ?’

महात्मा बोले- भैया ! जिसके पास जो माल होता है, वह उसीको दिखाता है। यह तो ग्राहककी इच्छा है। कि उसे ले या न ले। तुम्हारे पास जो माल था, तुमने वही दिखाया, इसमें तुम्हारा क्या दोष है । परंतु मुझे तुम्हारा यह माल पसंद नहीं है।दोनों लज्जित हो गये। तब महात्माने फिर कहा ‘दूसरा आदमी गलती करे और हम अपने अंदर आग जला दें, यह तो उचित नहीं है। मेरे गुरुजीने मुझे यह सिखाया है कि क्रोध करना और अपने वदनपर छुरी मारना बराबर है। ईर्ष्या करना और जहर पीना बराबर है। दूसरोंकी दी हुई गालियाँ और दुष्ट व्यवहार हमारा कोई नुकसान नहीं कर सकते।’

यह सुनकर सब लोग बहुत प्रभावित हुए और महात्माको प्रणाम करके चले गये ।

A Mahatma used to live in solitude by building a hut in the forest. The fame of his qualities like anger, forgiveness, peace, detachment etc. was spread far and wide. The quality on man is intolerant. To make them angry by disturbing their peace – there was a competition for this. Two men took the initiative. They went to Mahatma’s cottage. One said – ‘ Maharaj! Just bring a ganja pipe.’ Mahatma said – ‘Brother! I don’t smoke ganja.’ He again said – ‘Well, bring tobacco.’ Mahatma said ‘I have never used tobacco.’ He said- ‘Then why is he sitting in the forest posing as Baba? Where is the sly? Meanwhile, many people gathered there as per the prior plan. That man told everyone and then said – ‘He is a complete swindler, he has been jailed four times. Is.’ His other companion said – ‘ Hey brother! I know very well, I was with you. He had beaten me with sticks in the jail, look at his scars. at night | Lives with Ramjanis, becomes a great saint during the day.’ Thus, both of them started making false allegations one by one, how could the Mahatma get angry, in the end. They started abusing the Mahatma’s parents, his means and his clothes. While talking, the whole store became empty. They fell silent. Then the Mahatma laughed and said, ‘A devotee has given sugar pudding, put it in some water and drink it. (Putting sugar pudding in front and said) Brother! You must be tired.’ That man fell at the feet of the Mahatma and said – ‘Forgive me Maharaj! I have committed a great crime against you. Even after doing this much, Maharaj! How did you not get angry?
Mahatma said – Brother! The one who has the goods, he shows only that. This is the wish of the customer. whether to take it or not. You showed the goods that you had, what is your fault in this. But I do not like this product of yours. Both were ashamed. Then the Mahatma again said, ‘It is not fair if another person makes a mistake and we kindle a fire inside ourselves. My Guruji has taught me that getting angry is equal to stabbing your body. Being jealous and drinking poison is the same. Abuses and bad behavior given by others cannot do us any harm.’
Everyone was very impressed after hearing this and went away after saluting the Mahatma.
