गौरैयाका आग बुझाना
बात त्रेतायुग — श्रीरामके समय की है। सुतीक्ष्ण ऋषिके आश्रम में बहुत-से ऋषि एक समूहमें साथ रहते थे। उस समय रावणके सैनिकोंद्वारा आतंक फैलाया जा रहा था, ऋषि-मुनियोंपर भयानक अत्याचार हो रहा था, राक्षस मार-पीटकर ऋषियोंको फेंक देते थे, जिससे हड्डियों का ढेर लग गया था।
एक दिनकी बात है, सुतीक्ष्ण ऋषिके आश्रम में ऋषि-मुनि कुटिया में निवास कर रहे थे। रावणके आततायी सैनिक आश्रममें आये और उन्होंने वहाँ आग लगा दी। उनके आतंकसे ऋषि-मुनियोंमें हाहाकार मच गया और वे आग बुझानेका प्रयास करने लगे।
इसी आश्रम में एक गौरैया पक्षी भी घोंसला बनाकर रहती थी। वह भी चीं-चींवकर चिल्ला रही थी; क्योंकि उसने अपना घोंसला कुटियामें ही बना रखा था, और कुटियाके साथ ही उसका घोंसला भी जल गया था। जब ऋषि-मुनि समीपकी नदीसे जल लाकर आग बुझा रहे थे तो वह गौरैया पक्षी भी अपनी चोंचमें पानी ला लाकर आपके ऊपर छोड़ रही थी, उसके इस कृत्यको सुतीक्ष्ण ऋषि देख रहे थे कि पक्षी क्या कर रहा है। वे समझ गये कि इस पक्षीका घोंसला इसी आश्रममें था, और कुटियाके साथ जलकर खाक हो गया था।
ऋषि विचार करने लगे कि इस पक्षीको भी ज्ञान है कि ऋषि-मुनियोंका आश्रम नहीं जलाना चाहिये। इस पक्षीका नाम आग लगानेवालोंमें नहीं, बल्कि आग बुझानेवाले जीवके रूपमें लिखा जायगा और यह स्वर्गका अधिकारी होगा।
जब भगवान् श्रीराम एक दिन सुतीक्ष्णके आश्रम पहुँचे तो मुनिने उस गौरैयाके विषयमें बताया। भगवान् रामके बुलानेपर गौरैया आयी। भगवान् रामने स्नेहपूर्वक उसको सहलाकर आशीर्वाद दिया। तबसे लोकमानसमें गौरैया पक्षी घरकी उन्नति करानेवाला पक्षी माना जाता है।

Once upon a time, Rishi-Muni were living in the hermitage of Sutikshna Rishi’s hermitage. Ravana’s terrorist soldiers came to the ashram and set it on fire. Due to their terror, there was an outcry among the sages and they started trying to extinguish the fire.
A sparrow bird also used to make a nest in this ashram. She was also screaming and crying; Because he had made his nest in the hut itself, and along with the hut his nest was also burnt. When sages and sages were extinguishing the fire by bringing water from the nearby river, then that sparrow bird was also bringing water in its beak and leaving it on you, sage Sutikshna was watching what the bird was doing. They understood that this bird’s nest was in this ashram, and it was burnt to ashes along with the hut.
The sages started thinking that even this bird has the knowledge that the ashrams of sages and sages should not be burnt. The name of this bird will not be written among those who set fire, but as a creature who extinguishes fire and it will be entitled to heaven.
When Lord Shri Ram reached Sutikshna’s ashram one day, the sage told about that sparrow. The sparrow came on the call of Lord Rama. Lord Ram affectionately coaxed him and blessed him. Since then, the sparrow bird is considered to be the progressing bird of the house.
