विचित्र बहुरूपिया

पुरानी बात है- अयोध्यामें एक संत रहते थे, वे कहीं जा रहे थे। किसी बदमाशने उनके सिरपर लाठी मारकर उन्हें घायल कर दिया। लोगोंने उन्हें बेहोश पड़ेदेखकर दवाखानेमें पहुँचाया। वहाँ मरहमपट्टी की गयी। कुछ देरमें उनको होश आ गया। इसके बाद दवाखानेका एक कर्मचारी दूध लेकर आया और उनसे बोला’महाराज ! यह दूध पी लीजिये ।’ संतजी उसकी बात सुनकर हँसे और बोले— ‘वाह भाई! तुम भी बड़े विचित्र हो ! पहले तो सिरमें लाठी मारकर घायल कर दिया और अब बिछौनेपर सुलाकर दूध पिलाने आ गये।’ बेचारा कर्मचारी संतकी बातको नहीं समझ सका और उसने कहा- ‘महाराज! मैंने लाठी नहीं मारी थी। वह तो कोई और था। मैं तो इस दवाखानेका सेवकहूँ।’ संतजी बोले- ‘हाँ-हाँ, मैं जानता हूँ। तुम बड़े बहुरूपिये हो कभी लाठी मारनेवाले बदमाश – डाकू बन जाते हो तो कभी सेवक बनकर दूध पिलाने चले आते हो। जो न पहचानता हो उसके सामने फरेब – जाल करो, मैं तो तुम्हारी सारी माया जानता हूँ, मुझसे नहीं छिप सकते।’ अब उसकी समझमें आया कि संतजी सभीमें अपने प्रभुको देख रहे हैं।

It is an old story – a saint used to live in Ayodhya, he was going somewhere. Some miscreant injured him by hitting him on the head with a stick. People saw him lying unconscious and took him to the dispensary. Ointment was done there. He regained consciousness in some time. After this, an employee of the dispensary came with milk and said to him, ‘Maharaj! Drink this milk.’ Santji laughed after listening to him and said – ‘ Wow brother! You are too weird! First they injured him by hitting him on the head with a stick and now they have made him sleep on the bed and have come to feed him milk.’ The poor employee could not understand the words of the saint and he said – ‘ Maharaj! I didn’t hit the stick. He was someone else. I am the servant of this dispensary.’ Saint said – ‘Yes, yes, I know. You are very many-faced, sometimes you become a lathi-wielding ruffian and sometimes you come as a servant to feed milk. Cheat – trap in front of the one who doesn’t recognize, I know all your illusions, you can’t hide from me.’ Now he understood that Santji is seeing his Lord in everyone.
