लक्ष्मीका वास किस घरमें होता है ?

एक सेठजी रात्रिमें सो रहे थे। स्वप्नमें उन्होंने देखा कि लक्ष्मीजी कह रही हैं-‘सेठ, अब तेरा पुण्य हो गया है, इसलिये तेरे घरसे मैं थोड़े दिनों में चली जाऊँगी। तुझे मुझसे जो माँगना हो, वह माँग ले।’
सेठने कहा- ‘कल सबेरे अपने कुटुम्बके लोगोंसेसलाह करके जो माँगना होगा, माँग लूँगा।’
सबेरा हुआ। सेठने स्वप्नकी बात कही। परिवारके लोगों में से किसीने होरा-मोती आदि माँगनेको कहा, किसीने स्वर्णराशि माँगनेकी सलाह दी, कोई अन्न माँगनेके पक्षमें था और कोई वाहन या भवन। सबसे अन्तमें सेठकी छोटी बहू बोली- ‘पिताजी! जब लक्ष्मीको जाना ही है तो ये वस्तुएँ मिलनेपर भी टिकेंगी कैसे ? आप इन्हें माँगेंगे तो भी ये मिलेंगी नहीं। आप तो माँगिये कि कुटुम्बमें प्रेम बना रहे। कुटुम्बमें सब लोगोंमें परस्पर प्रीति रहेगी तो विपत्तिके दिन भी सरलतासे कट जायँगे।’
सेठको छोटी बहूकी बात पसन्द आयी। दूसरी रात्रिमें स्वप्नमें उन्हें फिर लक्ष्मीजीके दर्शन हुए। सेठने प्रार्थना की- ‘देवि! आप जाना ही चाहती हैं तो प्रसन्नता से जायें; किंतु यह वरदान दें कि हमारे कुटुम्बियों में परस्पर प्रेम बना रहे।’
लक्ष्मीजी बोलीं- ‘सेठ! ऐसा वरदान तुमने माँगा कि मुझे बाँध ही लिया। जिस परिवारके सदस्यों में परस्पर प्रीति है, वहाँसे मैं जा कैसे सकती हूँ!’
एक बार देवी लक्ष्मीने इन्द्रसे कहा भी था
गुरवो यत्र पूज्यन्ते यत्राह्नानं सुसंस्कृतम् ।
अदन्तकलहो यत्र तत्र शक्र वसाम्यहम् ॥
‘इन्द्र ! जिस घरमें गुरुजनोंका सत्कार होता है, दूसरोंके साथ जहाँ सभ्यतापूर्वक बात की जाती है और जहाँ मुखसे बोलकर कोई कलह नहीं करता। दूसरेके प्रति मनमें क्रोध आनेपर भी जहाँ लोग चुप ही रह जाते हैं। मैं वहीं रहती हूँ।’

One Sethji was sleeping at night. In the dream, he saw that Lakshmiji was saying- ‘Seth, now your virtue is done, that’s why I will leave your house in a few days. Ask whatever you want from me.’
Seth said- ‘Tomorrow morning I will ask whatever I want after consulting my family members.’
It’s morning Seth talked about the dream. Some of the family members asked to ask for hora-pearls etc., some advised to ask for gold amount, some were in favor of asking for food and some vehicle or building. At last Seth’s younger daughter-in-law said – ‘Father! When Lakshmi has to go, how will these things last even after getting them? Even if you ask for them, you will not get them. You ask that love should remain in the family. If there will be mutual love among all the people in the family, then even the days of calamity will pass easily.’
Seth liked the talk of the younger daughter-in-law. In the second night, he saw Lakshmiji again in his dream. Seth prayed – ‘ Goddess! If you want to go, then go happily; But give me this boon that there should be mutual love between our family members.
Lakshmiji said – ‘Seth! You asked for such a boon that you tied me up. How can I go away from a family whose members have love for each other?’
Once Goddess Lakshmi had said to Indra
Gurvo Yatra Pujyante Yatrahananam Sanskritam.
Adantkalho yatra tatra sugar vasamyaham ॥
‘Indra! The house where teachers are respected, where others are talked to in a civilized way and where no one creates discord by speaking. Where people remain silent even when there is anger towards others. I live there.’
