बहादुरीका इनाम
हीरोशियो नेलसन एक दरिद्र लड़का था। उसके मामा मारिस साक्लेंग जब एक समुद्री जलयानके कप्तान बने, तब उसने पत्र लिखकर उनसे प्रार्थना की कि वे उसे किसी नौकरीपर लगा दें। उसे नौकरी मिल गयी और कुछ ही वर्षोंमें अपनी मेहनतसे नेलसन एक कुशल नाविक बन गया। उसके मामा युवक नेलसनको उत्तरी ध्रुवकी खोजमें जानेवाले सहार्स जहाजपर अपने साथ ले गये। एक दिन जलयानने लंगर डाला। नेलसन साथियोंसहित खाने-पीनेका सामान जुटाने निकल पड़ा। अभी ये सब नौसैनिक कुछ ही दूर गये थे कि एक बड़े आकारके हिंसक रीछने उनपर हमला कर दिया। सब युवक रीछको देखकर भाग गये, परंतु युवक नेलसन अकेला ही डटा रहा। वह बन्दूककी गोलियाँ समाप्त होनेपर भी बन्दूकके कुन्देसे ही रीछसे जूझता रहा। साथियोंने भागकर जहाजके कप्तानको सारी घटना सुनायी। यह सुनते ही सैनिकोंको साथ लेकर वे सब वहाँ गये। सबने। घेरकर उस रीछको धराशायी कर दिया। जहाजके कप्तानने पूछा- ‘तुम अपने साथियोंके साथ भागकर जहाजपर क्यों नहीं आ गये ?”
युवक नेलसनने जवाब दिया- ‘विपत्तिसे घबराकर मैदान छोड़ना कायरोंका काम है। मैंने फैसला कर लिया था कि इस रीछको खत्म करके ही रहूँगा।’ कप्तानने पूछा—’तुम्हारी बहादुरीका तुम्हें क्या इनाम दिया जाय ?’ युवकने उत्तर दिया- ‘इस मरे रीछकी खाल मुझे दे दी जाय, जिसे मैं अपने मित्रोंको दिखाकर उन्हें भी भयहीन एवं साहसी बननेकी प्रेरणा दे सकूँ।’
यही साहसी युवक आगे चलकर ब्रिटिश नौसेनाका सर्वश्रेष्ठ सेनापति बना। उसने ही फ्रांसके सेनापति नेपोलियनको पराजित किया था।

Hirosio Nelson was a poor boy. When her maternal uncle, Maris Sakleng, became the captain of a sailing ship, she wrote a letter to him asking him to employ her. He got the job and within a few years, with his hard work, Nelson became a skilled sailor. His maternal uncle took young Nelson with him on the Sahara ship going in search of the North Pole. One day the ship anchored. Nelson along with his companions went out to collect food and drink. Now all these marines had gone only a short distance when a large size grizzly bear attacked them. All the youths ran away after seeing the bear, but the young Nelson stood alone. He continued to fight with the bear with the butt of the gun even after the bullets of the gun were over. The companions ran away and narrated the whole incident to the captain of the ship. On hearing this, they all went there taking the soldiers with them. Everyone Surrounded and destroyed that bear. The captain of the ship asked – ‘Why didn’t you run away with your companions and come on the ship?’
Young Nelson replied – ‘ It is the work of cowards to leave the field in fear of disaster. I had made up my mind to kill this bear.’ The captain asked – ‘What reward should be given to you for your bravery?’ The young man replied- ‘The skin of this dead bear should be given to me, which I can show to my friends and inspire them to become fearless and courageous.’
This courageous young man later became the best commander of the British Navy. It was he who defeated the French commander Napoleon.
