किसीके पीछे मत भागो
एक बार सर्दियोंकी दोपहरमें स्वामी रामतीर्थ घूमने निकले। रास्तेमें उन्होंने देखा कि एक बच्चा अपनी परछाईंको पकड़नेकी कोशिश कर रहा है। वे रुक गये। उन्होंने देखा कि बच्चा कभी तेज भागकर, कभी दबे पाँव और कभी छलाँग लगाकर अपनी परछाईंको पकड़नेकी कोशिश कर रहा है, लेकिन पकड़ नहीं पा रहा है। अन्तमें बच्चा हारकर रोने लगा।
स्वामी रामतीर्थ रोते हुए बच्चेके पास गये और उसके दोनों हाथ उठाकर उसीके सिरपर रख दिये। अब अपनी परछाईंको पकड़ी हुई देखकर बच्चा खुशीसे चिल्लाया । ‘जादू! आपको यह जादू कैसे आया ?’
‘किसीके भी पीछे नहीं भागकर’ स्वामी रामतीर्थने बड़ा ही सरल किंतु बड़ा ही गहरा उत्तर दिया ।
don’t run after anyone
Once in the afternoon of winter, Swami went out to visit Ramtirtha. On the way he saw a child trying to catch his shadow. They stopped. He saw that the child is trying to catch his shadow sometimes by running fast, sometimes by ducking and sometimes by jumping, but is unable to catch it. At last the child started crying in defeat.
Swami Ramteerth went to the crying child and raised both his hands and placed them on his head. Now seeing his shadow holding on, the child cried out happily. ‘Magic! How did you get this magic?’
‘By not running after anyone’ Swami Ramatirtha gave a very simple but very deep answer.
