राहकी बाधा
बहुत पुरानी बात है। एक दिन राजा शौर्यने मुख्य मार्गके बीचोबीच एक बड़ा पत्थर रखवा दिया और स्वयं एक पेड़के पीछे छिपकर देखने लगा कि कोई उस पत्थरको हटाता है या नहीं। उस मार्गसे कई राजदरबारी और व्यापारी गुजरे, लेकिन पत्थर वहीं पड़ा रहा। कुछ लोग तो राज्यकी मार्ग-व्यवस्थाको कोसने भी लगे, लेकिन किसीने भी पत्थरको हटानेका प्रयास नहीं किया।
थोड़ी देर बाद वहाँसे एक किसान गुजरा। उसकी पीठपर अनाजका बोरा लदा हुआ था। उसने पत्थरको देखकर सोचा, बीच राहमें इतना भारी पत्थर रखा हुआ है। इससे टकराकर किसीको चोट लग जायगी। मैं इसे हटा देता हूँ। उसने अनाजका बोरा एक तरफ रखा और पत्थर हटानेका प्रयास करने लगा। काफी देरकी कोशिश के बाद वह पत्थर हटानेमें सफल रहा। जब किसान अपना बोरा उठाकर घूमा तो उसने देखा, जहाँ पत्थर पड़ा हुआ था, वहीं मोहरोंसे भरी थैली रखी है। उसने थैली नहीं उठायी और आगे जाने लगा। पीछेसे आवाज आयी-‘अरे, भाई रुको!’
किसानने मुड़कर देखा, तो राजा शौर्य खड़ा था। राजाको देखकर किसान डर गया कि न जाने उसने क्या अपराध कर दिया है। राजाने किसानसे कहा- ‘डरो मत। वह पत्थर मैंने ही मार्गमें रखा है। मैं देखना चाहता था कि कितने लोग जीवनमें आयी बाधाको हटानेका प्रयास करते हैं। लेकिन दुःखकी बात है कि यहाँसे बहुत लोग गुजरे, परंतु किसीने भी इसे नहीं हटाया। सिर्फ तुमने यह काम किया है। जिस तरह यह पत्थर जीवनमें आनेवाली बाधाके समान था, उसी तरह यह इनाम इस बाधाको दूर करके मिलनेवाली उन्नतिकी तरह है।’
किसानने खुशी-खुशी मोहरोंकी थैली ले ली और राजाको धन्यवाद देकर अपनी राह चल दिया।
roadblock
It’s a very old matter. One day King Shaurya got a big stone placed in the middle of the main road and he himself started hiding behind a tree to see if anyone removes that stone or not. Many royal courtiers and merchants passed through that route, but the stone remained there. Some people even started cursing the road system of the state, but no one tried to remove the stone.
After some time a farmer passed from there. A sack of grain was loaded on his back. He looked at the stone and thought, there is such a heavy stone lying in the middle of the road. Somebody will get hurt by bumping into it. I remove it. He kept the grain sack aside and started trying to remove the stone. After a long effort, he succeeded in removing the stone. When the farmer turned around carrying his sack, he saw where the stone was lying, there was a bag full of coins. He didn’t pick up the bag and started going ahead. A voice came from behind – ‘Hey, brother wait!’
When the farmer looked back, King Shaurya was standing there. Seeing the king, the farmer got scared as to what crime he had committed. The king said to the farmer – ‘Don’t be afraid. I have placed that stone on the way. I wanted to see how many people try to remove the obstacle in life. But the sad thing is that many people passed by here, but no one removed it. Only you have done this work. Just as this stone was like an obstacle in life, in the same way this reward is like progress by removing this obstacle.’
The farmer happily took the bag of coins and went on his way after thanking the king.
