शूलीसे स्वर्णसिंहासन

राजपुरोहित तथा सेठ सुदर्शनकी प्रगाढ़ मैत्री थी। पुरोहितजीकी पत्नीने सेठके सदाचारकी परीक्षा लेनेका निश्चय किया। एक दिन जब पुरोहितजी घरसे कहीं गये। थे, उनकी पत्नीने सेठजीके पास संदेश भेजा – ‘आपके मित्र अस्वस्थ हैं।’

सेठ सुदर्शन पुरोहितजीके घर पहुँचे तो पुरोहित पत्नीका पापपूर्ण प्रस्ताव सुनकर वे काँप उठे। उन्होंने कानोंपर हाथ रखकर कहा-‘मुझे क्षमा करो बहिन !”

और वहाँसे चले आये।

राजपुरोहितकी पत्नी चम्पानरेशकी रानीके साथ दूसरे दिन धर्मचर्चा करते हुए बोलीं- ‘आज भी पृथ्वीपर सच्चे सदाचारी विद्यमान हैं।’

रानी हँसी – ‘तभीतक, जबतक कोई सुन्दरी नारी अपने कटाक्षका उन्हें लक्ष्य नहीं बनाती।’

पुरोहितानी – ‘आपका भ्रम है रानीजी! ऐसे महापुरुष भी हैं जिन्हें देवाङ्गनाएँ भी विचलित नहीं कर सकतीं।

इतिहास साक्षी है।’ रानी- ‘वे बातें लिखने तथा पढ़नेकी ही हैं।’पुरोहितानी – ‘आप चाहें तो परीक्षा कर देखें। सेठ सुदर्शन वे जा रहे हैं राजपथसे ।’

रानीको बात लग गयी। उसने दासी भेजकर सेठ सुदर्शनको राजभवनके अन्तः पुरमें बुलवाया। परंतु रानी विफल हुई। उसके हाव-भाव, प्रलोभन तथा धमकियोंका कोई प्रभाव नहीं पड़ा। ऐसे अवसरोंपर प्रायः पराजित नारी जो करती है, रानीने भी वही किया। उसने सेठ सुदर्शनपर आरोप लगाया कि वे छिपकर अन्तःपुरमें पहुँचे और रानीको भ्रष्ट करना चाहते थे।

सेठ सुदर्शन मौन बने रहे। उनका अपराध ही ऐसा बताया गया था कि नरेश क्रोधान्ध हो उठे। उन्होंने आज्ञा दी – ‘ इसे इसी समय शूलीपर चढ़ा दो ।’

सेठ सुदर्शन शूली पर चढ़ाये जाने लगे; किंतु नरेश, बधिक तथा सभी उपस्थित लोग चकित रह गये यह देखकर कि शूली सहसा स्वर्णसिंहासन बन गयी। अब जाकर रानीके पापका भण्डाफोड़ हुआ। परंतु सेठने उसे जीवनदान दिला दिया।

Rajpurohit and Seth Sudarshan had a deep friendship. The priest’s wife decided to test Seth’s virtue. One day when Purohitji went somewhere from home. His wife sent a message to Sethji – ‘Your friends are unwell.’
When Seth Sudarshan reached Purohitji’s house, he was shocked to hear the sinful proposal of the priest’s wife. He put his hands on his ears and said – ‘I’m sorry sister!’
And left from there.
Rajpurohit’s wife said while discussing religion with Champanresh’s queen the other day – ‘True virtuous people exist on earth even today.’
The queen laughed – ‘Unless, until some beautiful woman makes her the target of her sarcasm.’
Priestess – ‘Your illusion is Raniji! There are such great men whom even goddesses cannot disturb.
History is witness. Queen – ‘Those things are for writing and reading only.’Purohitani – ‘If you want, try the test. Seth Sudarshan they are going from Rajpath.
The queen got the point. He sent a maid and called Seth Sudarshan to the inner puram of the Raj Bhavan. But the queen failed. His gestures, allurements and threats had no effect. On such occasions, what a defeated woman usually does, the queen also did the same. He accused Seth Sudarshan that he secretly reached Anthapur and wanted to corrupt the queen.
Seth Sudarshan remained silent. His crime was told in such a way that the king became furious. He ordered – ‘Put him on the cross right now.’
Seth Sudarshan started being crucified; But the king, Badhik and all the people present were amazed to see that Shuli suddenly became a golden throne. Now the sin of the queen has been exposed. But Seth gave him life.
