हुगलीके सरकारी वकील स्वर्गीय शशिभूषण वन्द्योपाध्याय एक दिन वैशाखके महीनेमें दोपहरकी कड़कती लूमें एक किरायेकी गाड़ीमें बैठकर एक प्रतिष्ठित व्यक्तिके घर पहुँचे। वे एक आवश्यक कार्यसे आये थे। उनका वहाँ स्वागत हुआ। फिर उस व्यक्तिने पूछा – ‘इस भयंकर दोपहरीमें आपने आनेका कष्ट क्यों किया? आप किसी नौकरके हाथ पत्र भेज देते तो भीयह काम हो जाता।’

श्रीशशिभूषणजीने कहा – ‘मैंने पहले नौकरको ही भेजनेका विचार किया था और पत्र भी लिखा था; किंतु बाहरकी प्रचण्ड गरमी तथा लू देखकर मैं किसी भी नौकरको भेजने का साहस नहीं कर सका। मैं तो गाड़ी में आया हूँ, उस बेचारेको तो पैदल आना पड़ता। उसमें भी तो वही आत्मा है, जो मुझमें है।’ -सु0 सिं0

Late Shashibhushan Vandyopadhyay, public prosecutor of Hooghly, one day in the month of Vaishakh, sitting in a rented car, reached the house of an eminent person in the scorching heat of the afternoon. They had come for an important work. He was welcomed there. Then the person asked – ‘Why did you bother to come in this terrible afternoon? Even if you had sent the letter to a servant, it would have been done.’
Shri Shashibhushanji said – ‘ I had thought of sending the servant first and also wrote the letter; But seeing the intense heat and heat outside, I could not dare to send any servant. I have come in a car, that poor man would have had to come on foot. He also has the same soul which is in me.’ – Su 0 Sin 0
