लक्ष्मी जी ने सर्वप्रथम राजा बलि को राखी बांधी थी

लक्ष्मी जी ने सर्वप्रथम बलि को बांधी थी ! ये बात है जब दानबेन्द्र राजा बलि अश्वमेध यज्ञ करा रहे थे !
तब नारायण ने राजा बलि को छलने के लिये वामन अवतार लिया और तीन पग में सब कुछ ले लिया !
तब उसे भगवान ने पाताल लोक का राज्य रहने के लिये दे दिया !
तब उसने प्रभु से कहा कि कोई बात नहीँ मैं रहने के लिये तैयार हूँ पर मेरी भी एक शर्त होगी, भगवान अपने भक्तो की बात कभी टाल नहीँ सकते ! उन्होंने कहा ऐसे नही प्रभु आप छलिया हो पहले मुझे वचन दे कि जो मांगूँगा वो आप दोगे !
नारायण ने कहा दूँगा दूँगा दूँगा जब त्रिबाचा करा लिया तब बोले बलि
कि मैं जब सोने जाऊँ तो जब उठूं जिधर भी नजर जाये उधर आपको ही देखूं !
नारायण ने अपना माथा ठोका और बोले इसने तो मुझे पहरेदार बना दिया है ये सब कुछ हार के भी जीत गया है पर कर भी क्या सकते थे वचन जो दे चुके थे ! ऐसे होते होते काफी समय बीत गया !
उधर बैकुंठ में लक्ष्मी जी को चिंता होने लगी नारायण के बिना ! उधर नारद जी का आना हुआ !
लक्ष्मी जी ने कहा नारद जी आप तो तीनों लोकों में घूमते है क्या नारायण को कहीँ देखा आपने !
तब नारद जी बोले कि पाताल लोक में है राजा बलि के पहरेदार बने हुये है ! तब लक्ष्मी जी ने कहा मुझे आप ही राह दिखाये कि कैसे मिलेंगे !
तब नारद ने कहा आप राजा बलि को भाई बना लो और रक्षा का वचन लो और पहले तिर्बाचा करा लेना दक्षिणा में जो मांगुगी वो देंगे और दक्षिणा में अपने नारायण को माँग लेना !
लक्ष्मी जी सुन्दर स्त्री के भेष में रोते हुये पहुँची ! बलि ने कहा क्यों रो रही है आप ! तब लक्ष्मी जी बोली कि मेरा कोई भाई नही है इसलिए मैं दुखी हूँ ! तब बलि बोले कि तुम मेरी धरम की बहिन बन जाओ !
तब लक्ष्मी ने तिर्बाचा कराया और बोली मुझे आपका ये पहरेदार चाहिये !
जब ये माँगा तो बलि पीटने लगे अपना माथा और सोचा धन्य हो माता पति आये सब कुछ ले गये और ये महारानी ऐसी आयी कि उन्हे भी ले गयी !
तब से ये रक्षाबन्धन शुरू हुआ था और इसीलिये कलावा बाँधते समय यह मंत्र बोला जाता है –
येन बद्धो राजा बलि दानबेन्द्रो महाबला !
तेन त्वाम प्रपद्यये रक्षे माचल माचल: !!
ये मंत्र है !
रक्षा बन्धन अर्थात बह बन्धन जो हमें सुरक्षा प्रदान करे ! सुरक्षा किस से हमारे आंतरिक और बाहरी शत्रुओं से रोग ऋण से !

Then Narayan incarnated as Vamana to deceive King Bali and took everything in three steps. Then God gave him the kingdom of Hades to live in! Then he told GOD that no problem, I am ready to live, but I will also have one condition, God can never stop talking about His devotees! He said that it is not like that Lord, you are a deceiver, first promise me that you will give whatever I ask for! Narayan said, I will give, when I have got Tribacha done, then said sacrifice That when I go to sleep, when I wake up, wherever I look, I can see you there! Narayan bowed his head and said that he has made me a watchman, he has won everything even after defeat, but what could he have done even after the promise that he had given! A lot of time passed like this! On the other hand, Lakshmi ji started worrying in Baikunth without Narayan! There Narad ji came. Lakshmi ji said, Narad ji, you roam in all the three worlds, have you seen Narayan anywhere? Then Narad ji said that the king is in Hades and remains the guard of Bali! Then Lakshmi ji said, show me the way how you will meet! Then Narad said that you make King Bali a brother and take the promise of protection and get the tirbacha done first, you will give what you ask for in Dakshina and ask for your Narayan in Dakshina! Lakshmi ji arrived crying in the guise of a beautiful woman! Bali said why are you crying! Then Lakshmi ji said that I do not have any brother, so I am sad! Then Bali said that you become the sister of my religion! Then Laxmi made her bow and said, I want this watchman of yours! When he asked for this, the sacrifice started beating his head and thought that blessed mother husband came and took everything and this queen came in such a way that she took them too! Since then this Raksha Bandhan started and that is why this mantra is said while tying the Kalava – Yen Baddo King Bali Danbendro Mahabala! Ten Tvam Prapadyaye Rakshe Machal Machal: !! This is the mantra! Raksha Bandhan means the bond which gives us security. From what protection from disease debt from our internal and external enemies! Rakhi’s honor!
