अवध के लक्ष्मण किला में आप कभी आये हैं ?
सरजू के किनारे है ये स्थान… प्राचीन है… आधुनिक चमक दमक से दूर है… कुछ भाग जीर्ण-शीर्ण भी हो गया है… पर बहुत ऊर्जा है इस भूमि में ।
कल रात्रि में बधाई भजन इत्यादि बड़े-बड़े गायकों द्वारा हो रही थी ।
मैं मन्दिर में नही गया… मुझे लगा मैं थोड़ा सरयू के किनारे अकेले में बैठूँ… क्यों कि दो दिन से यहीं मैं बधाई का आनन्द ले रहा हूँ… ।
रात्रि के करीब 9 बज रहे होंगे… मैंने एकान्त देखा… पीपल का वृक्ष था बड़ा प्राचीन…
मैं उसके पास गया तो घनी ऊर्जा थी उस स्थान पर ।
मुझे प्रयास भी नही करना पड़ा… और स्वयं ही मेरी आँखें बन्द हो गयीं… ।
आहा ! यहीं रहते थे शेष जी के अवतार भगवान श्रीराम के छोटे भाई लक्ष्मण जी ।
लक्ष्मण जी जब भगवत् धाम गए… प्रभु श्रीराम से पहले… तब यहीं सरजू में ही प्रवेश कर गए थे… यहीं घाट है ।
2 घण्टे बीत गए… पता ही नही चला… मैं तो ध्यान में ही खो गया था…
सीताराम !… एक वैष्णव साधू ने मुझे आवाज दी…
उस परम पवित्र “सीताराम” नाम से ही मेरा ध्यान टूटा था ।
सफेद दाढ़ी लम्बी… गौर वर्ण… माथे में वैष्णव सम्प्रदाय रामानन्दीय का लम्बा बड़ा सुंदर तिलक था… उनके हाथ में एक जपने वाली छोटी-सी सुमरनी थी… और वो जप ही रहे थे कण्ठ से “सीताराम सीताराम”… मस्तक में दिव्य तेज़ था ।
मैं उठा और उनके चरणों में झुका… तो उन्होंने बड़े प्रेम से उठाकर मुझे चूम लिया… मेरे शरीर में एक अलग ही ऊर्जा फ़ैल गयी थी उनके चूमते ही ।
महन्त जी हैं जिनके साथ में रुका हूँ… कनक भवन के पास… वो बैठे हुए हैं… भीड़ में… अब वहाँ बातें हो रही थीं इधर-उधर की… तो मैं उठकर चला आया… मैंने उनके बिना कुछ पूछे ही बताना शुरू कर दिया था… मन्दिर में गायन चल रहा है… तो मैं तीन दिन से गायन ही सुन रहा हूँ… तो आज लगा कि भीड़ से हटकर अवध को महसूस करूँ… यहाँ की भूमि को… तो मैं ऐसे ही निकल गया था… पर इस पीपल के वृक्ष के नीचे… तो घनी ऊर्जा है… मैं ध्यान करने का विचार कर ही रहा था कि मेरी आँखें अपने आप बन्द हो गयीं… और ध्यान ऐसा लगा… अभी मैंने घड़ी देखी तो दो घण्टे हो गए हैं ।
मैं बच्चे की तरह उन्हें ये सारी बातें बताने लगा था… ।
वो हँसे… फिर आकाश की ओर देखकर बोले… सीताराम !
फिर उन्होंने बोलना शुरू किया… मुझे बाद में पता चला कि वह तो मौनी बाबा हैं… जो कभी बोलते ही नही ।
पर मेरे ऊपर कृपा करके वो बोल रहे थे…
ये देख रहे हो… लक्ष्मण किला का घाट !
जी ! देख रहा हूँ… मैंने कहा ।
इस जगह सरजू नदी के मध्य में… (ऊँगली से उन्होंने बताया)
वहाँ एक बहुत बड़ा भंवर है… कितना गहरा है किसी को पता नही है… यहीं से गए थे लक्ष्मण जी अपने धाम ।
मैं उनको सुन रहा था… बात तो वही बता रहे थे जो सब लोग अपने-अपने धाम के बारे में बताते हैं… पर कहने में उनका दृढ विश्वास था… वही उनका विश्वास मुझे उनको सुनने के लिए बाध्य कर रहा था ।
अब इसमें मै क्या कहता… मैंने बस हाथ जोड़े… ।
पर भगवन् ! ये पीपल का वृक्ष ?… और इस क्षेत्र में ऊर्जा बहुत है… इसका कोई विशेष कारण ? मुझे लगा कि ये प्रश्न मैंने बेकार पूछ लिया… और उन्होंने ये बात मुझ से कही भी ।
अरे ! ये अवध है… यही भू-लोक का साकेत धाम है… ऊर्जा तो यहाँ चारों ओर बिखरी हुयी है ।
मैं इस बात को सुनकर चुप हो गया… पर वो महात्मा जी मेरी ओर देखने लगे थे… फिर बोले… तुम्हारा कहना सत्य है… इसी स्थान पर 2 महिने रहकर स्वामी श्री विवेकानन्द जी ने साधना की थी… केवल साधना… इसी स्थान पर… जहाँ आज बैठकर तुमने ध्यान किया है ।
स्वामी विवेकानन्द जी ?…
वो यहाँ आये हैं ?… मैंने चौंक कर उनसे पूछा था ।
चौंकते क्यों हो… ये भूमि भगवान राघव की है… !
मैं फिर चुप हो गया… बात तो सही थी… भगवान राघव की भूमि में विवेकानन्द जी आ गये… तो वो धन्य हुए… न कि ये भूमि !
बैठो यहाँ !… सीढ़ी है सरजू के लक्ष्मण किला घाट पर उन्होंने मुझे वहीं बैठने के लिए कहा ।
मैं बैठ गया…
वो भी बैठ गए… फिर अपने हाथ की सुमिरनी चलाने लगे… कण्ठ से “सीताराम सीताराम”… ।
हम दोनों ही चुप थे… मौन थे…
मैंने ही बात छेड़नी चाही… पर मैं कुछ बोलूँ उससे पहले ही वो महात्मा जी बोले… आपको महन्त जी खोजते होंगे… ।
मैंने कहा… कोई बात नही… महन्त जी अपने हैं आप तो बात बताइये… कि स्वामी विवेकानन्द जी यहाँ साधना करने क्यों आये ?
हाँ… वो फिर हँसे… बड़े हँस मुख से लगे मुझे तो ।
सुनो !… तुम्हें तो पता होगा… पहले स्वामी विवेकानन्द जी मूर्ति पूजा को नही मानते थे… ब्रह्म समाज था बंगाल में फैला हुआ… ये लोग आकार को नकारते थे… पर निराकार को बड़े प्रेम से स्वीकार करते थे… उसी ब्रह्म समाज में भजन इत्यादि का गायन यदा कदा आकर विवेकानन्द जी सुना जाते थे…
रामकृष्ण देव के शिष्य बन गए थे विवेकानन्द जी… पूर्व नाम नरेंद्र दत्त…।
आध्यात्मिक ऊर्जा से भरपूर रामकृष्ण परमहंस जी ।
उनकी ऊर्जा ने ही पकड़ लिया था विवेकानन्द को… और ब्रह्म समाज को छोड़कर… शिष्यत्व स्वीकार कर लिया था विवेकानंद ने ।
पर… वो महात्मा जी बीच में बोले ।
पर क्या ?
मन के अपने संस्कार होते हैं… ब्रह्म समाज की विचारधारा निराकार ही है ईश्वर… ये सब मूर्ति पूजा… भक्ति इत्यादि ये सब बेकार की बातें हैं… इस विचार धारा को गहरे में स्वीकार कर चुके थे ।
अब दिक्कत ये हो रही थी… विवेकानन्द को… कि रामकृष्ण देव पक्के मूर्ति पूजक थे… काली भगवती के आराधक… उपासक ।
गुरु की बातें सुन लेते थे… जाओ विवेक ! भोग लगा दो माँ को…
अब चले जाते तो थे भगवती की मूर्ति के पास… भोग की थाली रख भी देते थे… पर… उनके वो ब्रह्म समाज के संस्कार… ।
आरती में आकर नाचना… मूर्छित ही हो जाना… राम कृष्ण देव की ये दिव्य भाव मयी स्थिति थी ।
पर विवेकानन्द को कभी-कभी लगता… मेरे गुरु कहीं पागल तो नही है…? मूर्ति पूजा… मूर्ति के आगे रोना… धोना ये सब क्यों ?
एक दिन भोग लेकर भेजा विवेकानन्द को परमहंस जी ने… माँ काली के पास… तो जब भोग को लेकर आये…
तब बड़े ध्यान से आँखों में देखा विवेकानन्द के… गुरु परम हंस जी ने…
तुम्हें पता नही… भाव के बिना माँ भोग नही स्वीकार करती !
स्पष्ट व्यक्तित्व तो थे ही… और शिष्य को होना भी चाहिए… गुरु को जो बात मन में चल रही है… वो बता दें… यही उचित है… ताकि गुरु उपाय बतायेंगे… या जो करें।
गुरुदेव ! मैं बहुत कोशिश करता हूँ… पर मूर्ति पूजा में मेरा भाव ही नही बनता… मैं क्या करूँ ।
परमहंस जी मुस्कुराये…
सुबह बताऊंगा… अभी जाओ अपने निवास में ।
सुबह ही सुबह विवेकानन्द जी हाजिर थे…
देखो विवेक !… तुम दो महिने के लिए अयोध्या जाओ ।
ये क्या आज्ञा दे दिया था गुरु जी ने…
क्यों जाऊँ ?… ईश्वर तो सर्वत्र है… फिर अयोध्या में ही क्यों ?
स्थान कोई-कोई विशेष होते हैं… तुम सिद्ध नही हो अभी… तुम साधक हो विवेक !… और साधक को स्थान का ध्यान रखना ही चाहिये… तुम अभी वहाँ तक नही पहुँचे हो कि तुम्हें सर्वत्र ईश्वर की अनुभूति होने लगे… इसलिये जाओ… भक्ति के भाव जगाने के लिये… ।
मैंने उन महात्मा जी के मुख की ओर देखा… उन्होंने भी मेरी ओर मुस्कुराते हुए देखा था ।
फिर बोले… विवेकान्द जी अयोध्या आये…
और पूरी अयोध्या घूमे… हर स्थान को देखा उन्होंने…
उन्हें हनुमान जी और लक्ष्मण जी… ये दो पात्र ज्यादा प्रिय थे ।
इसलिये हनुमान जी की आराधना करने के लिये… वो बारम्बार युवा जगत को प्रेरित करते रहते थे… ।
मैंने कहा… हाँ भगवन् ! बंगाल में हनुमान जी की पूजा की परम्परा भी पूरी तरह से प्रकाश में लाने वाले विवेकानन्द जी ही थे ।
हाँ… हनुमान गढ़ी में तो ऐसा शान्त स्थान उन्हें मिला नही… फिर वो ऐसे ही साधना के लिए शाम के समय भ्रमण कर रहे थे… सरजू के किनारे ।… उन महात्मा जी ने मुझे बताया ।
तभी ये स्थान उन्हें दिखाई दिया… लक्ष्मण जी की तेजवान ऊर्जा यहीं पर व्याप्त थी… ।
उन्हें बहुत अच्छा लगा… और वो यहीं रहकर ध्यान साधना करते थे… जब तक रहे तब तक सरजू का जल ही पीते थे ।
एक सिद्ध महात्मा थे… गुप्तार घाट में… स्वामी विवेकान्द जी यहां से पैदल गुप्तार घाट सरजू के किनारे-किनारे नित्य जाते थे… और उनसे जाकर वो सत्संग किया करते ।
आपने देखा है भगवान राम को ?
कि मात्र आप मूर्ति पूजन ही करते रहते हैं ?
उन वैष्णव साधू से विवेकानन्द जी ने पहला प्रश्न यही किया था ।
वो साधू अनपढ़ थे… पढ़े-लिखे नही थे… न उनके पास कोई तर्क था… न ज्यादा ही जानकारी थी शास्त्रों की…
पर जो भी था वो अनुभव का ही था…
जब पूछा विवेकानन्द ने आपने देखा है भगवान राम को ?
क्या वह धनुष बाण लिए रहते हैं ? ये पूछते हुए थोड़े हँस दिए विवेकानन्द ।
गम्भीर होकर महात्मा जी ने प्रतिप्रश्न किया… तुम्हें देखना है भगवान राम को ?
चौंक गए थे विवेकानन्द… ये क्या बोल रहे हैं !
क्यों कि विवेकानन्द ने सोचा था तर्क से मुझे समझायेंगे ये साधू… पर नही… सच्चे साधू के पास तर्क कहाँ होता है… उसके पास तो अनुभव होता है… वो पढ़ी बातें कहाँ करता है… वो तो देखी बातें करता है ।
हाँ… करना है… सीता राम सीता राम… इसका जाप करो… खूब करो… निरन्तर करो !
देखो ! वो नील वर्ण के हैं… शान्त और गम्भीर है… मन्द मुस्कुराते हैं… धनुष बाण उनके हाथों में है…
इतना सुनते ही ध्यान लग गया… विवेकानंद को ।
बस… विवेकानन्द जी साकार ध्यान में लीन हो गए…
इनका भाव बढ़ने लगा साकार के प्रति… यहीं… यहीं इसी लक्ष्मण किला में बैठकर वो घण्टों ध्यान किया करते थे ।
और एक दिन उन्हें श्री राम लक्ष्मण सीता जी… और हनुमान जी के दर्शन हुए थे… यहीं… इसी स्थान में ।
और जब दर्शन हुए… वो समय रात्रि का था…
दर्शन करने के बाद… कई घण्टों तक देह सुध बिसरे रहे विवेकानन्द जी…।
और जब सुध आई तब वह दौड़े उन महात्मा जी के पास… पर उन्हें वो महात्मा जी नही मिले… सब से पूछा उन्होंने… पर कोई बता नही पाया कि वो गए कहाँ .।…साधू का क्या ?… चले गए… अपने आपको छुपाने के लिए ।
मैंने उस पीपल को देखा… जो सरजू किनारे ही था…
मेरे नेत्र बारम्बार बह रहे थे ।
महाराज जी !… कहाँ है आप ?
मुझे आवाज दी… महन्त जी मुझे खोज रहे थे…
जाओ !… तुमको बुला रहे हैं… जाओ !
इतना कहकर वो तो लम्बे डग भरते हुए… सरजू के किनारे-किनारे चल दिए… ।
मैं उन्हें काफी दूर तक देखता रहा…
ये सत्य घटना है…
लक्ष्मण किला को मैंने प्रणाम किया… अवध की भूमि को मैंने प्रणाम किया… उस पीपल वृक्ष को प्रणाम किया था ।

Have you ever been to Laxman Fort in Awadh?
This place is on the banks of the Sarju… it is ancient… it is far from the modern glitter… some parts have also become dilapidated… but there is a lot of energy in this land.
Last night, Badhaai Bhajan etc. was being sung by big singers.
I did not go to the temple… I thought I should sit alone on the banks of Saryu… because I am enjoying the greetings from here for two days….
It must be around 9 o’clock in the night… I saw solitude… Peepal tree was very ancient…
When I went near it, there was a strong energy at that place.
I didn’t even have to make an effort… and my eyes closed on their own…
Ouch! Lakshman ji, the younger brother of Lord Shri Ram, the incarnation of Shesh ji, lived here.
When Lakshman ji went to Bhagwat Dham… before Lord Shriram… then he entered Sarju here itself… this is the ghat.
2 hours have passed… I didn’t realize… I was lost in meditation…
Sitaram!… A Vaishnav monk called me…
My meditation was broken by that most sacred name “Sitaram”.
Long white beard… Gaur Varna… Ramanandiya of Vaishnav sect had a long beautiful Tilak on his forehead… He had a small chanterelle in his hand… And he was chanting “Sitaram Sitaram” loudly… His forehead was divinely sharp.
I got up and bowed at his feet… then he lifted me up and kissed me with great love… a different energy spread in my body as soon as he kissed me.
There is Mahant ji with whom I have stayed… near Kanak Bhawan… he is sitting… in the crowd… Now there were talks here and there… So I got up and came… I started telling without asking him anything … Singing is going on in the temple… So I have been listening to singing for three days… So today I felt that I should move away from the crowd and feel Awadh… The land here… So I had left like this… But this Peepal tree Downstairs… so there is dense energy… I was just thinking of meditating when my eyes closed automatically… and meditation felt like… I just looked at the clock and it has been two hours.
Like a child, I started telling him all these things….
He laughed… then looked at the sky and said… Sitaram!
Then he started speaking… I came to know later that he is Mouni Baba… who never speaks.
But he was speaking kindly on me…
Are you looking at this… Ghat of Laxman Fort!
Yes ! I see… I said.
At this place in the middle of Sarju river… (He pointed with his finger)
There is a huge whirlpool there… no one knows how deep it is… it was from here that Lakshman ji went to his abode.
I was listening to him… he was telling the same thing that everyone tells about their respective abode… but he had strong faith in saying… that same faith was forcing me to listen to him.
Now what can I say in this… I just folded my hands….
But God! This Peepal tree?… and there is a lot of energy in this area… any special reason for this? I felt that I had asked this question unnecessarily… and he also said this to me.
Hey ! This is Awadh… This is the Saket Dham of the earth… The energy is scattered everywhere here.
I became silent after hearing this… but that Mahatma ji started looking at me… then said… what you say is true… Swami Shri Vivekananda ji had done sadhna by staying at this place for 2 months… only sadhna… at this place… where Today you have meditated sitting.
Swami Vivekananda ?.
Has he come here?… I asked him in surprise.
Why are you surprised… this land belongs to Lord Raghav…!
I became silent again… It was true… Vivekananda ji came to the land of Lord Raghav… So he was blessed… Not this land!
Sit here!… There is a staircase at Sarju’s Laxman Qila Ghat. He asked me to sit there.
I sat down…
He also sat down… then started running his hand’s sumirni… “Sitaram Sitaram” from the voice….
Both of us were silent…we were silent…
I wanted to start talking… but before I could say anything, Mahatma ji said… Mahant ji must be searching for you….
I said… No problem… Mahant ji is our own, you tell me… Why did Swami Vivekananda come here to do meditation?
Yes… He laughed again… I could feel him laughing.
Listen!… You must know… Earlier Swami Vivekananda ji did not believe in idol worship… Brahmo Samaj was spread in Bengal… These people used to deny the form… but used to accept the formless with great love… Bhajan etc in the same Brahmo Samaj Vivekananda ji used to come and listen to the singing of…
Vivekananda ji had become a disciple of Ramakrishna Dev… Former name Narendra Dutt….
Ramakrishna Paramhans ji full of spiritual energy.
His energy caught Vivekananda… and leaving Brahmo Samaj… Vivekananda had accepted discipleship.
But… That Mahatma ji spoke in between.
But what?
Mind has its own sanskars… The ideology of Brahmo Samaj is formless God… All these idol worship… Bhakti etc. all these are useless things… had accepted this thought stream deeply.
Now the problem was happening… to Vivekananda… that Ramakrishna Dev was a staunch idol worshipper… worshiper of Kali Bhagwati… worshipper.
Used to listen to the words of the Guru… Go Vivek! Offer bhog to mother…
Now he used to go near the idol of Bhagwati… used to keep a plate of bhog too… but… those rituals of Brahmo Samaj….
Dancing after coming to the Aarti… Fainting itself… This was the divine feeling state of Ram Krishna Dev.
But Vivekananda sometimes feels… is my teacher mad somewhere…? Idol worship… crying in front of the idol… washing why all this?
One day Paramhans ji sent Vivekananda with Bhog… to Maa Kali… then when he brought Bhog…
Then looked very carefully into the eyes of Vivekananda… Guru Param Hans ji… You don’t know… Mother doesn’t accept food without emotion!
He had a clear personality… and the disciple should also… tell the Guru what is going on in his mind… this is appropriate… so that the Guru will tell the solution… or whatever he should do.
Gurudev ! I try a lot… but I don’t feel like worshiping idols… what should I do.
Paramhans ji smiled…
I will tell you in the morning… Now go to your residence.
Vivekananda ji was present early in the morning.
Look Vivek!… You go to Ayodhya for two months.
What was this command given by Guru ji…
Why should I go?… God is everywhere… then why only in Ayodhya?
Some places are special… You are not perfect now… You are a seeker, Vivek!… And a seeker must take care of the place… You have not yet reached that point that you start feeling God everywhere… So go… Bhakti To awaken the feelings of….
I looked at the face of that Mahatma ji… He also looked at me smiling.
Then said… Vivekand ji came to Ayodhya…
And went around the whole of Ayodhya… He saw every place…
Hanuman ji and Laxman ji… these two characters were more dear to him.
That’s why he used to inspire the youth again and again to worship Hanuman ji.
I said… yes God! Vivekananda was the one who brought the tradition of Hanuman ji’s worship in Bengal to full light.
Yes… He did not find such a peaceful place in Hanuman Garhi… Then he was visiting in the evening for such sadhna… on the banks of Sarju… That Mahatma ji told me.
That’s why he saw this place… Laxman ji’s bright energy was prevailing here….
He liked it very much… and he used to meditate while staying here… As long as he stayed, he used to drink Sarju water only.
There was a Siddha Mahatma… in Guptar Ghat… Swami Vivekanand ji used to go from here on foot to the banks of Guptar Ghat Sarju… and he used to do satsang after going there.
Have you seen Lord Ram? Or do you only worship idols?
This was the first question Vivekananda asked to that Vaishnav monk.
Those sages were illiterate… were not educated… neither did they have any logic… nor did they have much knowledge of the scriptures…
But whatever it was, it was only of experience.
When Vivekananda asked have you seen Lord Ram?
Does he carry bow and arrows? Vivekananda laughed a little while asking this.
Getting serious, Mahatma ji counter-questioned… Do you want to see Lord Ram?
Vivekananda was shocked… what is he saying!
Because Vivekananda had thought that this sage would explain to me through logic… But no… True sage does not have logic… He has experience… Where does he talk about things he has read… He talks about what he has seen.
Yes… have to do… Sita Ram Sita Ram… Chant it… Do it a lot… Do it continuously!
See ! He is of blue complexion… calm and serious… smiles softly… bow and arrow in his hands…
On hearing this, Vivekananda got attention.
Just… Vivekananda ji got engrossed in real meditation…
His feelings started increasing towards the real… right here… right here in this Laxman Fort, he used to meditate for hours.
And one day he had darshan of Shri Ram Laxman Sita ji… and Hanuman ji… right here… in this very place.
And when Darshan happened… it was night time…
After having darshan… Vivekananda ji remained oblivious of body care for many hours….
And when Sudh came, he ran to that Mahatma ji… but he could not find that Mahatma ji… he asked everyone… but no one could tell where he went….. what about the monk?… went… to hide himself. For .
I saw that Peepal… which was on the bank of Sarju…
My eyes were flowing again and again.
Maharaj ji!… where are you?
Called me… Mahant ji was searching for me…
Go!… You are being called… Go!
Having said this, he took long strides and went towards the shores of Sarju.
I’ve been watching them for a long time…
This is a true incident…
I bowed down to the Laxman Fort… I bowed down to the land of Awadh… I bowed down to that Peepal tree.
