बंधुओं यह बात लगभग 45- साल पुरानी है। जब मैं अपने घर के बाहर एक चबूतरे पर बैठकर राम चरित्र मानस जी का पाठ कर रहा था तभी एक महिला जिसको हम रुकमणी बुआ जी कहते थे उन्होंने मुझे कहा कि तुम रोज रामायण पढ़ते हो इसके बारे में कुछ समझते भी हो, मैंने कहा नहीं मैं तो केवल पढ़ता हूं। तब उन्होंने मुझे जो कहा वह मैं आप सबके सामने प्रस्तुत करता हूं ,वह बहुत कम पढ़ी लिखी थी मुश्किल से पांचवीं तक पढ़ी हुई होगी उन्होंने कहा इसमें श्लोक है चौपाई है दोहा है छंद है और सोरठा है इसका अर्थ यह है श्लोक मने इस लोक में:- रामायण जी चौपाई अर्थात कामधेनु गाय है दोहा जिसका दोहन मनन चिंतन करना चाहिए अर्थात जिस तरह दूध को उबालकर गाढा बनाया जाता है, इसी प्रकार बार-बार समझ कर पढ़ना ही दोहा का अर्थ है ,या दोहन है,इसके बाद छंद छंद का अर्थ है कि जो आप ने समझा उस को छान लेना है । अब छांनने के बाद जो बचा वही सोरठा है। अर्थात उसे रटो सोरटा ,उन्होंने कहा कि जो बचता है वह राम नाम है और राम नाम ही रटते रहना मानस जी को समझना है: यथा; राम नाम कली अभी मत दाता। हित परलोक लोक पितु माता।। राम नामबिनुगिरा न सोहा।राम सकल नामन्ह ते अधिका। राम नाम नरक केसरी कनक कशीपुकलिकल। रामहि सुमरिअ गाइए रामही। राम राम कही जे जमुहाई। राम नमामि नमामि नमामि।। नहीं कलि करम नधरम विवेकु।राम नाम अवलंबन एकु।। और अंत में देखिए: पाई न केहि गति पतित पावन राम भजी सुनु शठ मना।
