अठारवा अध्याय लिखे यह दास
अब रौद्र रूप महाप्रभु शंकर नन्दी पर चढ़कर युद्धभूमि में आये। उनको आया देख कर उनके पराजित गण फिर लौट आये और सिंहनाद करते हुए आयुद्धों से दैत्यों पर प्रहार करने लगे। भीषण रूपधारी रूद्र को देख दैत्य भागने लगे तब जलन्धर हजारों बाण छोड़ता हुआ शंकर की ओर दौडा़। उसके शुम्भ निशुम्भ आदि वीर भी शंकर जी की ओर दौड़े। इतने में शंकर जी ने जलन्धर के सब बाण जालों को काट अपने अन्य बाणों की आंधी से दैत्यों को अपने फरसे से मार डाला। खड़गोरमा नामक दैत्य को अपने फरसे से मार डाला और बलाहक का भी सिर काट दिया। घस्मर भी मारा गया और शिवगण चिशि ने प्रचण्ड नामक दैत्य का सिर काट डाला। किसी को शिवजी के बैल ने मारा और कई उनके बाणों द्वारा मारे गये। यह देख जलन्धर अपने शुम्भादिक दैत्यों को धिक्कारने और भयभीतों को धैर्य देने लगा। पर किसी प्रकार भी उसके भय ग्रस्त दैत्य युद्ध को न आते थे जब दैत्य सेना पलायन आरंभ कर दिया, तब महा क्रुद्ध जलन्धर ने शिवजी को ललकारा और सत्तर बाण मारकर शिवजी को दग्ध कर दिया। शिवजी उसके बाणों को काटते रहे। यहां तक कि उन्होंने जलन्धर की ध्वजा, छत्र और धनुष को काट दिया। फिर सात बाण से उसके शरीर में भी तीव्र आघात पहुंचाया। धनुष के कट जाने से जलन्धर ने गदा उठायी। शिवजी ने उसकी गदा के टुकड़े कर दिये तब उसने समझा कि शंकर मुझसे अधिक बलवान हैं। अतएव उसने गन्धर्व माया उत्पन्न कर दी अनेक गन्धर्व अप्सराओं के गण पैदा हो गये, वीणा और मृदंग आदि बाजों के साथ नृत्य व गान होने लगा। इससे अपने गणों सहित रूद्र भी मोहित हो एकाग्र हो गये। उन्होंने युद्ध बंद कर दिया। फिर तो काम मोहित जलन्धर बडी़ शीघ्रता से शंकर का रूप धारण कर वृषभ पर बैठकर पार्वती के पास पहुंचा उधर जब पार्वती ने अपने पति को आते देखा, तो अपनी सखियों का साथ छोड़ दिया और आगे आयी। उन्हें देख कामातुर जलन्धर का वीर्यपात हो गया और उसके पवन से वह जड़ भी हो गया। गौरी ने उसे दानव समझा वह अन्तर्धान हो उत्तर की मानस पर चली गयीं तब पार्वती ने विष्णु जी को बुलाकर दैत्यधन का वह कृत्य कहा और यह प्रश्न किया कि क्या आप इससे अवगत हैं। भगवान विष्णु ने उत्तर दिया – आपकी कृपा से मुझे सब ज्ञात है। हे माता! आप जो भी आज्ञा करेंगी, मै उसका पालन करूंगा। जगतमाता ने विष्णु जी से कहा – उस दैत्य ने जो मार्ग खोला है उसका अनुसरण उचित है, मै तुम्हें आज्ञा देती हूं कि उसकी पत्नी का पतिव्रत भ्रष्ट करो, वह दैत्य तभी मरेगा। पार्वती जी की आज्ञा पाते ही विष्णु जी उसको शिरोधार्य कर छल करने के लिए जलन्धर के नगर की ओर गये।

Now Raudra form Mahaprabhu Shankar climbed Nandi and came to the battlefield. Seeing him come, his defeated ganas returned again and started attacking the demons with wars, while making a sound of lions. Seeing the fierce form of Rudra, the demons started running, then Jalandhar, releasing thousands of arrows, ran towards Shankar. His Shumbh Nishumbha etc. Veer also ran towards Shankar ji. In the meantime, Shankar ji cut all the arrows of Jalandhar and killed the demons with his ax by the storm of his other arrows. He killed a demon named Khadgorma with his ax and also beheaded Balahak. Ghasmar was also killed and Shivagana Chishi beheaded a demon named Prachanda. Some were killed by Shiva’s bull and many were killed by his arrows. Seeing this, Jalandhar began to curse his Shumbhadik demons and give patience to the fearful. But in any way his feared demons did not come to the war, when the demon army started fleeing, then the very angry Jalandhar challenged Shiva and stunned Shiva by hitting seventy arrows. Shiva kept cutting his arrows. He even cut Jalandhar’s flag, umbrella and bow. Then seven arrows also inflicted a severe blow in his body. Jalandhar picked up the mace after the bow was cut. When Shiva cut his mace into pieces, he understood that Shankar is stronger than me. Therefore he created Gandharva Maya, many Gandharva Apsaras were born, dances and songs started with the veena and mridang etc. Due to this, Rudra along with his Ganas were also fascinated and concentrated. He stopped the war. Then Kama Mohit Jalandhar hurriedly took the form of Shankar and reached Parvati sitting on a Taurus, whereas when Parvati saw her husband coming, she left her companions and came forward. Seeing them, the lustful Jalandhar ejaculated and he also became inert due to his wind. Gauri thought of him as a demon, she disappeared and went to Uttar’s mind, then Parvati called Vishnu ji and said that act of Daityadhan and asked if you were aware of it. Lord Vishnu replied – I know everything by your grace. O mother! Whatever you command, I will obey. Jagatmata said to Vishnu ji – It is right to follow the path that that demon has opened, I order you to corrupt the husband’s vow of his wife, that demon will die only then. On receiving Parvati’s permission, Vishnu ji went to the city of Jalandhar to deceive her by beheading her.
