एक ऋषि तपस्या करने के लिए वन में चले गए| तप करने के बाद जब ऋषि उठे तो देखा कि एक कौवा अपनी चोंच में एक चिड़िया का बच्चा दबाकर उड़ रहा है|
ऋषि ने क्रोध से कौवे की ओर देखा| ऋषि की आंखों से अग्नि की ज्वाला टूट पड़ी और कौवा जलकर वही खत्म हो गया|

अपनी इस सिद्धि को देकर ऋषि फूले नहीं समा रहे थे| अहंकार से भरे हुए ऋषि मठ की ओर चल पड़े और रास्ते में ऋषि एक दरवाजे पर जाकर भिक्षा के लिए खड़े हो गए| उनके बार-बार पुकारने पर कोई बाहर नहीं आया तो ऋषि क्रोधित हो गए|

उन्होंने फिर पुकारा, पर इस बार आवाज आई, स्वामी जी ठहरिए, मैं अभी साधना कर रही हूं| जब साधना पूरी हो जाएगी तब मैं आपको भिक्षा दूंगी| अब ऋषि की क्रोध की सीमा पार हो गई थी|

ऋषि क्रोध में आकर आकर बोले, दुष्टा! तुम साधना कर रही हो या एक ऋषि का अपमान कर रही हो| जानते नहीं कि इस अवहेलना का परिणाम क्या हो सकता है| भीतर से उतर आया, मैं जानती हूं आप शाप देना चाहेंगे किंतु मैं कोई कौवा नहीं जो आप के प्रकोप से जलकर नष्ट हो जाऊंगी|

जिसने जीवन भर पाला है मैं उस मां को छोड़ कर कर तुम्हें भिक्षा कैसे दे सकती हूं| ऋषि का सिद्धि का अहंकार चूर चूर हो गया| कुछ देर बाद वह महिला बाहर आई तो ऋषि ने आश्चर्य पूर्वक महिला से पूछा| अब कौन सी साधना करती है जिससे तुम मेरे बारे में सब कुछ जानती हो|

उस महिला ने कहा, महात्मन, मैं अपने पति, बच्चे, परिवार और समाज के प्रति कर्तव्यों का निष्ठापूर्वक पालन करती हूं| यही मेरी सिद्धि है|

A sage went to the forest to do penance. When the sage got up after doing penance, he saw that a crow was flying by pressing a baby bird in its beak. The sage looked at the crow in anger. The flame of fire broke from the eyes of the sage and the crow was burnt to death.

The sage was not able to swell by giving this accomplishment of his. The arrogant sage walked towards the monastery and on the way the sage went to a door and stood for alms. When no one came out on his repeated calls, the sage got angry.

He called again, but this time the voice came, wait Swamiji, I am doing spiritual practice now. I will give you alms when the sadhana is over. Now the limit of sage’s anger was crossed.

The sage came in anger and said, Wicked! Are you doing sadhna or insulting a sage? I don’t know what could be the result of this disobedience. Came down from within, I know you would like to curse but I am not a crow that will be destroyed by your wrath.

How can I give alms to you leaving that mother who has nurtured me all my life? The ego of the sage of Siddhi was shattered. After some time that woman came out, then the sage asked the woman in surprise. Which sadhana do you do now so that you know everything about me?

The woman said, Mahatman, I faithfully perform my duties towards my husband, children, family and society. This is my accomplishment.
