कथा कुछ इस प्रकार से है…..
भगवान श्रीहरि मूर दैत्य का नाश करने के बाद बैकुंठ लोक में शेष शय्या पर आंखें मूंदे लेटे मन ही मन मुस्कुरा रहे थे.
देवी लक्ष्मी उनकी चरण सेवा कर रही थीं. भगवान को मन में ही मुस्काता देख देवी को कौतूहल हुआ.
देवी लक्ष्मी ने उनसे प्रश्न किया- “भगवन आप संपूर्ण जगत का पालन करते हुए भी अपने ऐश्वर्य के प्रति उदासीन से होकर इस क्षीर सागर में नींद ले रहे हैं, इसका क्या कारण है?”
श्रीहरि पुनः मुस्कुराए और अपनी मोहक मुस्कान बिखेरते हुए बोले- “हे प्रिये मैं नींद नहीं ले रहा बल्कि अपनी अंतर्दृष्टि से अपने उस तेज का साक्षात्कार कर रहा हूं देवी जिसका योगी अपनी दृष्टि से दर्शन कर लेते हैं.”
” जिस शक्ति के अधीन यह समस्त संसार है मैं जब भी उसका मन में दर्शन करता हूं तब आपको ऐसा प्रतीत होता है कि मैं नींद में डूबा हूं परंतु ऐसा है नहीं.”
भगवान ने इतनी रहस्यमय तरीके से बात कही कि लक्ष्मीजी को कुछ बातें समझ में आईं कुछ नहीं आईं.
उन्होंने पुनः प्रश्न किया-” हे नाथ आपके अतिरिक्त भी कोई शक्ति है जिसका ध्यान स्वयं आप करते हों. यह बात तो मुझे घोर विस्मय में डालती है.”
श्रीहरि ने कहा-” देवी इस बात को अच्छी प्रकार से समझने के लिए आपको गीता के रहस्य समझने होंगे.”
“गीता के समस्त अध्याय मेरे उस शरीर के अंग हैं जिसकी आप सेवा करती हैं.”
” गीता के आरंभ के पांच अध्यायों को मेरे पांच मुख जानें.
छठे से पंद्रहवें अध्याय को मेरी दस भुजाएं समझिए” .
” सोलहवां अध्याय तो मेरा उदर है जहां क्षुधा शांत होती है.”
” अंतिम के दो अध्यायों को मेरे चरण कमल समझिए”.
भगवान ने गीता के अध्यायों की इस प्रकार व्याख्या कर दी लक्ष्मीजी की उलझन घटने की बजाय और बढ़ने लगी. भगवान ने भांप लिया कि देवी के मन में क्या चल रहा है.
श्रीहरि ने पुनः कहा-” देवी जो व्यक्ति गीता के एक भी अध्याय अथवा एक श्लोक का भी प्रतिदिन पाठ करता है वह सुशर्मा की तरह सभी पापों से मुक्त हो जाता है.”
अब तो देवी लक्ष्मी और उलझ गईं.
उन्होंने संयत भाव में अपनी अधीरता व्यक्त करते हुए- “हे नाथ यह आपकी क्या लीला है. एक के बाद एक आप पहेलियां ही कहते जा रहे हैं. कृपया आप मेरी जिज्ञासा शांत करें.”
भगवान पुनः मुस्कुराने लगे और उन्होंने लक्ष्मीदेवी को सुशर्मा की कथा सुनानी शुरू की.
“सुशर्मा नाम का एक घोर पापी व्यक्ति था. वह हमेशा भोग-विलास में डूबा रहता. मदिरा और मांसाहार इसी में जीवन बिताता. एक दिन सांप काटने से उसकी मृत्यु हो गई.”
” उसे नरक में यातनाएं झेलीं और फिर से पृथ्वी पर एक बैल के रूप में जन्म लिया” .
“अपने मालिक की सेवा करते बैल को आठ साल गुजर गए. उसे भोजन कम मिलता लेकिन परिश्रम जरूरत से ज्यादा करनी पड़ती.”
” एक दिन बैल मूर्च्छित होकर बाजार में गिर पड़ा. बहुत से लोग जमा हो गए. वहां उपस्थित लोगों में से कुछ ने बैल का अगला जीवन सुधारने के लिए अपने-अपने हिस्से का कुछ पुण्यदान करना शुरू किया.”
” उस भीड़ में एक वेश्या भी खड़ी थी. उसे अपने पुण्य का पता नहीं था फिर भी उसने कहा उसके जीवन में जो भी पुण्य रहा हो उसका अंश बैल को मिल जाए.”
” बैल मरकर यमलोक पहुंचा. बैल के हिस्से में जमा पुण्य का हिसाब-किताब होना शुरू हुआ तो एक बड़े आश्चर्य की बात हुई. ऐसे आश्चर्य की बात जिसके बारे में यदि धरतीलोक पर किसी व्यक्ति को कहो तो विश्वास ही न करें.”
” बैल के हिस्से में सर्वाधिक पुण्य उस वेश्या का दान किया हुआ आया था. उसी वेश्या के किए पुण्यदान के कारण बैल को नर्कलोक से मुक्ति हो गई.”
” इतना ही नहीं उसी पुण्यफल से पृथ्वी लोक का भोग करने के लिए मानव रूप में जन्म देकर भेजा गया. उसके पुण्य इतने थे कि विधाता ने उससे पृथ्वीलोक पर जाने से पहले उसकी इच्छा भी पूछी. ऐसा सौभाग्य करोड़ों में किसी-किसी धर्मात्मा को ही मिलता है.”
” इंसान के रूप में जाने से पहले बैल ने मांगा- हे परमात्मा आप मुझे मानवरूप में पृथ्वी पर भेजने का जो उपकार कर रहे हैं उससे मैं धन्य हो गया हूं. अब आपसे और क्या मांगू. बैलयोनि में मेरा जन्म मेरे पूर्व के कर्मों के दंडस्वरूप ही रहा होगा. इसलिए मैं चाहता हूं कि मनुष्य रूप में जाकर मैं उन कर्मों में न पडूं जो मेरा भावी खराब करेंगे. मनुष्य रूप में इसकी आशंका सर्वाधिक है.”
परमात्मा ने पूछा-” तो बताओ मैं तुम्हारा कैसे प्रिय करूं? , अपनी एक इच्छा बताओ”
उसने मांगा-” मुझे बस वह क्षमता प्रदान करें कि मुझे पूर्वजन्म की समस्त बातें स्मरण रहें. उनका स्मरण करके मैं कर्मों से भटकने से स्वयं को रोक सकूंगा. बस इतनी सी कृपा और कर दे”.
परमात्मा ने उसकी इच्छा स्वीकार ली और उसे वह योग्यता प्रदान कर दी. पृथ्वीलोक पर आने के बाद उसे पूर्वजन्म स्मरण थे इसलिए उसने सबसे पहले उपकार का फल चुकाने का निर्णय किया.
पृथ्वी पर आकर उसने उस वैश्या को तलाशना शुरू किया जिसके पुण्य से उसे मुक्ति मिली थी. आखिरकार उसने उस वैश्या को खोज ही निकाला.
उसने वेश्या को सारी बातें बताई और फिर पूछा- “देवी! आप धन्य हैं. आपके कर्म तो सबसे नीच कर्मों में आते हैं फिर भी आपके पास इतना संचित पुण्य कैसे था, यह घोर आश्चर्य की बात है. मैं जानना चाहता हूं कि कौन सा पुण्य आपने मुझे दान किया था?”
वेश्या ने एक तोते की ओर इशारा करके कहा- “वह तोता प्रतिदिन कुछ पढ़ता है. उसे सुनकर मेरा मन पवित्र हो गया. वही पुण्य मैंने तुम्हें दान कर दिया था.”
वैश्या की बात सुनकर सुशर्मा के आश्चर्य का तो कोई अंत ही नहीं रहा. एक स्त्री ने उस पुण्यफल का दान किया जिसके बारे में उसे पता तक नहीं है और वह पुण्य इतना प्रभावी है कि उसकी अधम योनि ही बदल गई.
उसने तोते को आदरपूर्वक प्रणाम किया और उसके ज्ञान का रहस्य पूछा. तब तोते ने अपने पूर्वजन्म की कथा सुनाई.
तोता बोला- “पूर्वजन्म में मैं विद्वान होने के बावजूद अभिमानी था और सभी विद्वानों के प्रति ईर्ष्या रखता था. उनका अपमान और अहित करता था.”
“मरने के बाद मैं अनेक लोकों में भटकता रहा. फिर मुझे तोते के रूप में जन्म मिला लेकिन पुराने पाप के कारण बचपन में ही मेरे माता-पिता की मृत्यु हो गई.”
” मैं रास्ते में कहीं अचेत पड़ा था. तभी दैवयोग से वहां से कुछ ऋषि-मुनि गुजरे. मुझे इस अवस्था में देखकर उन्हें दया आई और मुनि मुझे साथ उठा लाए.”
” आश्रम में लाकर मुझे एक पिंजरे में वहां रख दिया जहां विद्यार्थियों को शिक्षा दी जाती थी”.
” मैंने वहां गीता का पूरा ज्ञान सीखा. सुनते-सुनते गीता का प्रथम अध्याय मुझे कंठस्थ हो गया. इससे पहले कि मैं अन्य अध्याय सीख पाता एक बहेलिये ने वहां से चुराकर इन देवी को बेच दिया.”
” मैं अपने स्वभाववश इनको प्रतिदिन गीता के श्लोक सुनाता रहता हूं. वही पुण्य इन्होंने आपको दान किया और आप मानवरूप में आए.”
” श्रीहरि ने लक्ष्मीजी से कहा- देवी जो गीता का प्रथम अध्याय पढ़ता या सुनता है उसे भवसागर पार करने में कोई कठिनाई नहीं होती.”
तो इस प्रकार भगवान ने श्रीमद्भगवद्गीता के विभिन्न अध्यायों को अपने शरीर का अंग मानते हुए बताया है कि-_-” “गीता में साक्षात उनका वास है.” “
गीता को स्पर्श करने का अर्थ है आप श्रीनारायण के अंगों का स्पर्श कर रहे हैं. भगवान का स्पर्श करके सौंगंध लेने के बाद कोई असत्य नहीं कहेगा, इसी विश्वास के साथ गीता की सौगंध दी जाती है.
_कर्म की व्याख्या करता सर्वश्रेष्ठ ग्रंथ है भगवद्गीता जो सिखाती है कि व्यवहार में मनुष्य का जीवन कैसा होना चाहिए. असत्य बोलने, लालच और मोह में पड़कर अपने निकटजनों को अनुचित सलाह देने और धर्म के विरूद्ध जाना मनुष्य का सिर्फ अपना ही नहीं बल्कि पूरे कुल के नाश का कारण हो जाता है. यह सब सिखाती है गीता. ऐसे ग्रंथ से उत्तम और क्या होगा न्याय की सौगंध के लिए साक्षी रखने को.!!
The story goes something like this….
Lord Sri Hari, after destroying the Moor demon, was lying on the rest bed in Vaikunth Lok, smiling in his heart.
Goddess Lakshmi was serving his feet. The goddess was curious to see God smiling in her heart.
Goddess Lakshmi asked him – “Lord, you are sleeping in this Kshirsagar being indifferent to your opulence, despite following the whole world, what is the reason for this?”
Shri Hari smiled again and spreading his charming smile said – “O dear, I am not sleeping, but with my insight I am interviewing that glory of my Goddess, which Yogis can see with their vision.”
“Whenever I see the power under which this whole world is in my mind, then it seems to you that I am immersed in sleep, but it is not so.”
God spoke in such a mysterious way that Lakshmiji understood some things and some did not.
He asked the question again – “O Nath, there is some power other than you, which you yourself meditate on. This thing puts me in awe.”
Sri Hari said-” Devi, to understand this thing well, you have to understand the secrets of Gita.”
“All the chapters of Gita are parts of my body which you serve.” Know the five chapters of the beginning of the Gita as my five faces. Consider the sixth to fifteenth chapter as my ten arms”. ′′ The sixteenth chapter is my stomach where the appetite is calm. “Consider the last two chapters as my lotus feet”. God explained the chapters of Gita in such a way that instead of decreasing Lakshmiji’s confusion started increasing. God sensed what was going on in the mind of the goddess.
Sri Hari again said – “Devi, the person who recites even a single chapter or even a verse of the Gita every day becomes free from all sins like Susharma.”
Now Goddess Lakshmi got more confused.
Expressing his impatience in a restrained manner, he said, “O Nath, what is this of yours. You are telling riddles one after the other. Please satisfy my curiosity.”
God started smiling again and he started telling the story of Susharma to Lakshmidevi.
“There was a great sinner named Susharma. He was always indulged in indulgences. He used to live in alcohol and non-vegetarian food. One day he died of a snake bite.”
“He suffered tortures in hell and was again born on earth as a bull”.
“The bull spent eight years serving his master. He got less food but had to work harder than necessary.”
“One day the bull fainted and fell in the market place. Many people gathered there. Some of the people present there started doing some charity of their own share to improve the next life of the bull.”
“A prostitute was also standing in that crowd. She did not know about her virtue, yet she said that the bull should get a share of whatever virtue she has in her life.”
“The bull reached Yamlok after dying. When the calculation of the merit accumulated in the share of the bull started, it was a big surprise. Such a surprise that if told to a person on earth, they would not believe it.”
“The most virtue in the bull’s share was donated by that prostitute. Because of the virtue done by the same prostitute, the bull was freed from hell.”
” Not only this, he was sent in human form to enjoy the earth world with the same virtue. His virtues were so much that the creator asked him about his wish before going to the earth. Get.”
” Before going in the form of a human, the bull asked – O God, I am blessed by the favor you are doing to send me on earth in human form. Now what else can I ask from you. My birth in Bailayoni is a punishment for my past deeds. Must have been. That’s why I want that after going in human form, I should not fall into those deeds which will spoil my future. In human form, it is most feared.”
God asked – “So tell me how can I love you? Tell me one wish of yours.”
He asked -” Just give me the ability to remember all the things of my previous birth. By remembering them, I will be able to stop myself from deviating from my actions. Just give me this much grace”.
God accepted his wish and granted him that qualification. After coming to earth, he remembered his previous birth, so he decided to repay the favor first.
After coming to the earth, he started searching for the courtesan by whose virtue he had got freedom. At last he found that prostitute. He told all the things to the prostitute and then asked – “Goddess! You are blessed. Your deeds come in the lowest of deeds, yet how you had so much accumulated virtue, it is a matter of great surprise. I want to know which Punya you donated to me?”
The prostitute pointed to a parrot and said – “That parrot reads something every day. My mind became pure after listening to him. I donated the same virtue to you.”
There was no end to Susharma’s surprise after listening to the courtesan. A woman donated that virtuous fruit about which she is not even aware and that virtue is so effective that her bad form has changed.
He bowed respectfully to the parrot and asked the secret of his knowledge. Then the parrot told the story of his previous birth.
The parrot said- “In spite of being a scholar in my previous birth, I was proud and jealous of all the scholars. I used to insult and harm them.”
“After death, I wandered in many worlds. Then I was born as a parrot, but due to old sin, my parents died in my childhood.”
“I was lying unconscious somewhere on the way. Then by chance some sages and sages passed by. Seeing me in this condition, they felt pity and the sages brought me along.”
“Bringing me to the ashram, I was kept in a cage where students were taught”.
“I learned the complete knowledge of the Gita there. I memorized the first chapter of the Gita while listening to it. Before I could learn the other chapters, a fowler stole it from there and sold it to the goddess.”
“I keep reciting the verses of Gita to him everyday by my nature. He donated the same virtue to you and you came in human form.”
“Sri Hari said to Lakshmiji – Goddess who reads or listens to the first chapter of Gita, he has no difficulty in crossing the Bhavsagar.”
So in this way God has told various chapters of Shrimadbhagwadgita as part of his body that-_-” “He resides in the Gita.” “
Touching the Gita means you are touching the parts of Srinarayan. After taking an oath by touching God, no one will tell untruth, with this belief the oath of Gita is given.
Bhagavad Gita is the best book explaining Karma which teaches how a human life should be in practice. Telling untruth, falling into greed and temptation and giving inappropriate advice to your near and dear ones and going against religion becomes the reason for the destruction of not only the person but also the whole family. Gita teaches all this. What can be better than such a book to keep witnesses for the oath of justice.!!
