विद्यादान न देनेसे ब्रह्मराक्षस हुआ

बात उस समयकी है जब श्रीरामानुजाचार्य अपने प्रथम विद्यागुरु श्रीयादवप्रकाशजीसे अध्ययन करते थे। यादवप्रकाशजी अपने इस अद्भुत प्रतिभाशाली शिष्यसे डाह रखने लगे थे। उन्हीं दिनों काञ्चीनरेशकी राजकुमारी प्रेत-बाधासे पीड़ित हुईं। अनेक मन्त्रज्ञ बुलाये गये, किंतु कोई लाभ नहीं हुआ। नरेशका आमन्त्रण पाकर शिष्योंके साथ यादवप्रकाशजी भी काञ्ची पहुँचे। उन्होंने जैसे ही मन्त्रप्रयोग प्रारम्भ किया, राजकुमारीके मुखसे प्रेत बोला- ‘तू जीवनभर मन्त्रपाठ करे तो मेरा कुछ बिगाड़ नहीं सकता। उलटे मैं तुझे चाहूँ तो अभी धर पटकूँ। मैं सामान्य प्रेत नहीं हूँ, ब्रह्मराक्षस हूँ ।’ यादवप्रकाशजी डरकर हटने लगे। उस समय श्रीरामानुजाचार्य आगे आये। उन्होंने पूछा- ‘ब्रह्मन्! | आपको यह दुःखदायिनी योनि क्योंकर मिली ?’

रोकर ब्रह्मराक्षस बोला – ‘मैं विद्वान् था, किंतु मैंने अपनी विद्या छिपा रखी। किसीको भी मैंने विद्यादान नहीं किया, इससे ब्रह्मराक्षस हुआ। आप समर्थ हैं। मेरे मस्तकपर आप अपना अभय कर रख दें तो मैं इस प्रेतत्वसे छूट जाऊँ ।’

श्रीरामानुजने राजकुमारीके मस्तकपर हाथ रखकर जैसे ही भगवान्का स्मरण किया, वैसे ही ब्रह्मराक्षसने उसे छोड़ दिया; क्योंकि वह स्वयं प्रेतयोनिसे मुक्त हो गया। – सु0 सिं0

It is about the time when Sri Ramanujacharya used to study with his first Vidyaguru Sri Yadav Prakashji. Yadav Prakashji was jealous of his amazingly talented disciple. In those days the princess of the king of Kanchin was afflicted by a ghost-obstacle. Many magicians were called, but to no avail. Yadav Prakashji also reached Kanchi along with his disciples after receiving the invitation of the king. As soon as he started chanting, the ghost said to the princess – ‘If you recite mantras for the rest of your life, nothing can harm me. On the contrary, if I love you, I will hold you now. I am not an ordinary ghost, I am a Brahmarakshasa.’ Yadav Prakashji started moving away in fear. At that time Sri Ramanujacharya came forward. He asked – ‘Brahman! , Why did you get this painful vagina?
Crying Brahmarakshas said – ‘ I was a scholar, but I hid my knowledge. I did not give education to anyone, because of this he became a Brahmarakshasa. you are capable If you put your protection on my head, I will be free from this evil spirit.’
As soon as Sri Ramanuja remembered God by placing his hand on the head of the princess, the demon Brahma left her; Because he himself became free from the evil spirits. – Su 0 Sin 0
