अबु उस्मान हयरी नामक एक संत हो गये हैं। एक दिनकी बात है। रास्तेमें एक आदमीने कोयलेकी टोकरी इनके ऊपर उड़ेल दी। आपके परिचित सज्जन क्रोधित हो उसे डाँटने लगे। आपने उन लोगोंको रोकते हुए कहा- ‘बन्धुओ ! यह तो धन्यवादका पात्र है। मेरेजैसे प्राणीपर तो प्रज्वलित अङ्गारोंकी वृष्टि होनी चाहिये, यह बेचारा तो ठंडा कोयला ही फेंक रहा है। इसने तो मुझपर उपकार ही किया है।’ कोयला फेंकनेवाला लज्जित होकर मन-ही-मन पश्चात्तापकी ज्वालामें जलने लगा। – शि0 दु0
