आदर्श निर्लोभी

परम भक्त तुलाधार शूद्र बड़े ही सत्यवादी, वैराग्यवान् तथा निर्लोभी थे। उनके पास कुछ भी संग्रह नहीं था। तुलाधारजीके कपड़ोंमें एक धोती थी और एक गमछा । दोनों ही बिलकुल फट गये थे। मैले तो थे ही। वे नाममात्रके वस्त्र रह गये थे, उनसे वस्त्रकी जरूरत पूरी नहीं होती थी । तुलाधार नित्य नदी नहाने जाते थे, इसलिये एक दिन भगवान्ने दो बढ़िया वस्त्र नदीके तीरपर ऐसी जगह रख दिये, जहाँ तुलाधारकी नजर उनपर गये बिना न रहे। तुलाधार नित्यके नियमानुसार नहाने गये। उनकी नजर नये वस्त्रोंपर पड़ी। वहाँ उनका कोई भी मालिक नहीं था, परंतु इनके मनमें जरा भी लोभ पैदा नहीं हुआ। उन्होंने दूसरेकी वस्तु समझकर उधरसे सहज ही नजर फिरा ली और स्नान-ध्यान करके चलते बने। दूर छिपकर खड़े हुए प्रभु भक्तका संयम देखकर मुसकरा दिये। दूसरे दिन भगवान्ने गूलरके फल जैसी सोनेकी डली उसी जगह रख दी। तुलाधार आये। उनकी नजर आज भी सोनेकी डलीपर गयी। क्षणभरके लियेअपनी दीनताका ध्यान आया; परंतु उन्होंने सोचा, यदि । मैं इसे ग्रहण कर लूँगा तो मेरा अलोभ-व्रत अभी नष्ट हो जायगा। फिर इससे अहंकार पैदा होगा। लाभसे लोभ, फिर लोभसे लाभ, फिर लाभसे लोभ- इस प्रकार निन्यानबेके चक्कर में मैं पड़ जाऊँगा। लोभी मनुष्यको कभी शान्ति नहीं मिलती। नरकका दरवाजा तो सदा उसके लिये खुला ही रहता है। बड़े-बड़े पापोंकी पैदाइश इस लोभसे ही होती है। घरमें धनकी प्रचुरता होनेसे स्त्री और बालक धनके मदसे मतवाले हो जाते हैं, मतवालेपनसे कामविकार होता है और काम-विकारसे बुद्धि मारी जाती है। बुद्धि नष्ट होते. ही मोह छा जाता है और उस मोहसे नया-नया अहंकार, क्रोध और लोभ उत्पन्न होता है। इनसे तप नष्ट हो | जाता है और मनुष्यकी बुरी गति हो जाती है। अतएव मैं इस सोनेकी डलीको किसी प्रकार भी नहीं लूँगा।’ इस प्रकार विचार करके तुलाधार उसे वहीं पड़ी छोड़कर घरकी ओर चल दिये। स्वर्गस्थ देवताओंने साधुवाद दिया और फूल बरसाये ।

The supreme devotee Tuladhar Shudra was very truthful, ascetic and unselfish. They had nothing to collect. Tuladharji’s clothes included a dhoti and a handkerchief. Both were absolutely exploded. They were dirty. They were nominal clothes, they did not meet the need for clothes. Tuladhar used to go to bathe in the river every day, so one day the Lord placed two beautiful clothes on the bank of the river in such a place that Tuladhar’s eyes could not stay without going to them. Libra went to take a bath as per the daily rules. His eyes fell on new clothes. There they had no master, but they did not have the slightest greed. He easily looked away from it, thinking it was someone else’s object, and continued walking after bathing and meditating. The Lord, who was standing in the distance, smiled at the restraint of the devotee. The next day, the Lord placed a golden ball like a gular fruit in the same place. Tuladhar came. His eyes still fell on the golden dill. For a moment I noticed my humility; But he thought, if. If I accept it, my vow of non-greed will be destroyed right now. Then it will cause arrogance. Greed for profit, then greed for profit, then greed for profit- thus I will fall into the cycle of ninety-nine. The greedy man never finds peace. The door of hell is always open for him. Great sins are born of this greed. Because of the abundance of wealth in the house, women and children become intoxicated with wealth, intoxication causes lust, and lust kills the intellect. Intelligence is destroyed. The same delusion overwhelms and from that delusion arises new ego, anger and greed. These destroy the penance goes and the man becomes a bad mover. Therefore I will not take this golden ring in any way. Thus thinking, Tuladhar left her there and went home. The heavenly gods gave thanks and showered flowers.
