आप स्वयं देखते हैं कि वे नियम से अखाड़े में उतरते हैं, शस्त्राभ्यास करते हैं, आखेट पर जाते हैं, न्यायासन पर बैठ कर उस उत्तरदायित्व का पूर्ण निर्वाह करते हैं।कोई बात राज्य सभा में पूछी जाये तो समुचित उत्तर देते हैं, और क्या चाहिए हमें? अपना निजी जीवन यदि उसमें किसी अन्य के जीवन में पीड़ा कष्ट नहीं उढ़ेला जाता तो अपनी इच्छानुसार क्यों न जीने दिया जाये।’
‘राजा या युवराज का कोई निजी जीवन नहीं होता सरकार।यह क्या मैं नाचाज बताऊँ आपको? हुजूर को ज्ञात है कि साधारण बालक सहज रूप से माता पिता का दुलार पाते हुये खेल खाकर बड़े होते हैं और राजकुमार विशेषकर युवराज को बचपन से ही अनुशासन के तारों से बाँध कर जकड़ दिया जाता है।जैसे उपवन के प्रत्येक पौधे की कौन सी डाली किस ओर बढ़ेगी और झुकेगी, यह चतुर माली की इच्छानुसार होता है, जैसे मूर्तिकार पत्थर को हथौड़ी और छैनी से मार काट कर मूर्ति बना देता है, वैसे ही बालक राजकुमार को राजा के रूप में गढ़ा जाता है क्योंकि वह लाखों का आदर्श है।उसके सबल कंधे उत्तरदायित्व वहन करने के लिए हैं।उसका प्रत्येक कार्य अनुकरणीय होता है।यदि उसमें खोट है तो प्रजा में, राजपरिवार में, वह खोट आयेगा ही।अत: जो भी निर्णय लिया जाये राज्य और प्रजा का हित सोच कर लिया जाये।यह एकलिंग का आसन है।इसके हित पर किसका जीवन न्यौछावर हुआ अथवा किसका नष्ट हुआ, यह विचारणीय नहीं है।सरकार इन सब बातों को मुझसे बेहतर समझते हैं।मैं मन की बात को जब्त नहीं कर सका, इसी कारण निवेदन कर बैठा।’
‘ और सब गुण तो भोज में हैं, केवल यही कि वह भक्त हो जायेगा तो प्रजा भी भक्ति करेगी।यह बात आपको कष्टदायक लग रही है।’
‘ हाँ सरकार, भक्ति बुरी नहीं पर यदि सैनिक सबेरे उठ कर मंजीरे तम्बूरे बजाने लगे तो इसके परिणाम पर गम्भीरतापूर्वक थोड़ा विचार कर लिया जाये।इस राज्य पर बहुतों की गिद्ध दृष्टि लगी है।प्रजा इतनी समझदार नहीं होती कि कर्तव्य भी करे और भक्ति भी।वह अंधानुकरण करती है।यदि राजा ब्रह्मचारी हुआ तो प्रजा या तो नपुंसक होगी अथवा व्यभिचारी।यह सारा दोष फिर राजा को ही नहीं, उसे गढ़ने वाले के हिस्से में भी जाता है।’
‘आपने यह नहीं कहा काकाजी कि राजा भक्त होगा तो प्रजा भक्त अथवा अराजक होगी’ – राणासाँगा हँस पड़े- ‘अम्बरीश ध्रुव युधिष्ठर ये क्या एकांत भक्त नहीं थे? सुना तो नहीं कि इनकी प्रजा…….।’
‘एकांत भक्त होने में कोई दोष नहीं सरकार, राजा अपने शयन कक्ष के द्वार वंद करके आधी रात के बाद ध्यानमग्न हो तो कोई वैसा नहीं करेगा, यदि वैसा करे भी तो कोई हानि नहीं है।राजा यदि ब्रह्ममुहूर्त में उठकर प्रभु का स्मरण करता है तो किसी के अनुकरण करने से हानि नहीं होती है किंतु राज्य काज के समय यदि वह भजन मंडली में बैठता है, आखेट से जी चुराता है तो वन पशु प्रजा की हानि करेगें ही। शत्रु की अभिसंधियों से राज्य और प्रजा को बचाने की बात सोचना, छोड़कर जो राजा आँख मूँदकर ध्यान लगायेगा, इस अनीति का फल उसे और प्रजा को भुगतना होगा।ध्रुव अम्बरीश युधिष्ठर सतयुग त्रेता द्वापर में होगें सरकार, कुछ तो युग का प्रभाव भी होता है।कलियुग अपना क्या प्रभाव छोड़ेगा? प्रजा की सुख शांति और अनुशासन के लिए राजा को सतत सावधान रह कर आवश्यक हिंसा स्वीकार करनी ही चाहिए।यदि राजा या राज्य अहिंसक हुआ को प्रजा अराजक हो जायेगी।राज्य को बाहर और भीतर दोनों ओर से विपत्ति का सामना करना पड़ेगा।इतिहास साक्षी है कि बौद्धों के प्रभाव ने ही विदेशी हमलावरों को आक्रमण के लिए प्रोत्साहित किया था।विष्णुगुप्त चाणक्य ने यह बात समझी और समझी पुष्यमित्र ने, कभी आक्रमणकारी ठेले जा सके, किंतु जो हानि हो गई उसे तो किसी प्रकार लौटाया नहीं जासका।कौन नहीं जानता था कि रामगुप्त का अकर्मण्यता और नपुंसकता ने शरो को आमंत्रण दिया।यदि समय पर ब्राह्मण वररूचि उसे मार न देता तो कौन जाने कितना अनर्थ और होता? देश विक्रमादित्य जैसे योग्य शासकों से वंचित रहता।पृथ्वीराज में स्त्री- वशता न होती तो कान्ह जैसे नरपुंगव यों न मारे जाते।कैमाष जैसे बुद्धि सम्पन्न महामंत्री का वध न होता और चामुण्डराय को कारागार का सेवन न करना पड़ता।जयचंद और उनमें शत्रुता न होती को गौरी जैसे शत्रु से पराभव भी प्राप्त न होता।राजा का तो कुछ भी अपना नहीं होता, कोई सगा नहीं होता, केवल धर्म और कर्तव्य उसके अपने हैं।’
‘काकाजी आपकी बातें सुनकर बहुत अच्छा लगा।इस राज्य का और मेरा सौभाग्य है कि आप जैसे सामंत हमें प्राप्त हैं।अब यदि मृत्यु आ भी जाये तो निश्चिंत मर सकूँगा कि मेवाड़ आप जैसों के हाथ में सुरक्षित है।मैनें युवराज के पास विवाह का प्रस्ताव भेजा था पर उन्होंने स्वीकार नहीं किया।आप और हम प्रयत्न करेगें कि मेवाड़ को अकर्मण्य शासक न मिले, किंतु समय से बढकर शासक कोई नहीं है काकाजी।आपको ज्ञात है न कि मैं मेवाड़ का भावी शासक बनूँगा- इस भविष्यवाणी को सुनते ही माताजी के मंदिर में मेरे बड़े भाई ने मुझ पर आक्रमण कर दिया था।उस समय काका सूरजमल आड़े आ गये पर एक आँख तो जगमाल की तलवार की भेंट चढ़ ही गई।चाहता तो मैं और काका मिलकर उन्हें मार डालते पर क्या भ्रातृहंता होकर भविष्य में मैं इस गद्दी पर पाँव रखता? मेवाड़ की राजगद्दी से मुझे बकरी चराना अधिक अच्छा लगा।अज्ञात वेश में कितने दिनों तक गायरी का नौकर बन कर बकरियाँ चराता रहा पर समय ने एक दिन कान पकड़ कर यहाँ बिठा ही दिया।धर्म और कर्तव्य पालन का प्रयत्न ही तो हमारे वश में है।विश्वास कीजिए कि इस अपंग साँगा को कभी आप इनसे विमुख नहीं पायेगें।’
परिवार में वैमनस्य…..
