संत पुरूष कहते हैं कि पुत्री हो तो करमैती बाई जैसी।
राजस्थान के सीकर जिले की खंडेला निवासी भक्त शिरोमणि करमैती बाई परम कृष्ण भक्त हुई है जो कृष्ण भक्ति में अपने गौने की पहली रात ही घर छोड़कर पैदल ही वृंदावन निकल पड़ी। भक्तमाल ग्रंथ के अनुसार 18 दिन भूखी- प्यासी रहने के बाद खुद भगवान श्रीकृष्ण ने संत वेष में उसे दर्शन देकर प्रसाद ग्रहण करवाया था। भक्तमाल अनुसार करमैती बाई खंडेला के शेखावत राजा के पुरोहित परशुरामजी की बेटी थी। जो बचपन से ही कृष्ण भक्त थी। 12 वर्ष की उम्र में जयपुर के सांगानेर के जोशी परिवार में विवाह के बाद जब पति गौना करवाने आए तो वैवाहिक बंधन को श्रीकृष्ण भक्ति में बाधा जान उन्होंने पहली रात को ही घर छोड़ दिया और पैदल ही वृंदावन को निकल गई।
ऊंट की खोल में छिपी
ग्रंथ के अनुसार जब राजा को इस बात का पता चला तो उसने करमैती बाई को पकडऩे के लिए अपने घुड़सवार पीछे लगवा दिए। जिन्हें देख करमैती बाई एक मरे हुए ऊंट के खोल में छिप गई। जिसमें वह तीन दिन तक रही। जब घुड़सवार निराश होकर वापस लौटे तब खोल से बाहर निकली। इसके बाद वह साधुओं की एक टोली के साथ वृंदावन पहुंच गई। जहां वह ब्रम्हकुण्ड पर कृष्ण भक्ति में लीन रहने लगी।
मनाने गए पिता तो नहीं लौटी
जब करमैती बाई के वृंदावन होने का समाचार पुरोहित पिता को मिला तो वे उन्हें लेने ब्रम्हाकुंड पहुंचे। जहां साधु वेष में ध्यानमग्न बेटी को श्रीकृष्ण प्रेम में आंसु बहाती देख उनका ह्रदय भी भाव विभोर हो गया। बेटी की प्रेमदशा देखकर पिता परशुराम भी बेसुध से हो गए। जब करमैती बाई का ध्यान टूटा तो पिता ने घर चलकर श्रीकृष्ण भजन करने की बात बेटी करमैती से कही। लेकिन ‘यहां आकर कौन वापस गया है’ ये कहकर उन्होंने पिता को वापस लौटने को कहा।
राजा भी बने भक्त
भक्तमाल के अनुसार इसके बाद करमैती बाई ने यमुना नदी से मूर्ति निकालकर भक्ति के उपदेश के साथ पिता को दी। जिसे खंडेला में प्रतिष्ठित कर पिता भी कृष्ण भक्ति में लीन रहने लगे। जब शेखावत राजा को इसकी जानकारी हुई तो वे भी पहले परशुरामजी से मिलकर करमैती बाई से मिलने वृंदावन गए। जहां वह यमुना नदी के पास श्रीकृष्ण वियोग में आंसु बहाती मिली। करमैती बाई की भक्ति से राजा का भाव भी भक्तिमय हो गया और हठ करके उन्होंने ब्रम्हाकुण्ड के पास करमैती बाई के लिए एक कुटी बनवा दी। फिर वापस लौटकर वे भी कृष्ण भक्ति में ही लीन रहने लगे।
आज भी होती है मूर्ति की पूजा
खंडेला में बिहारी जी के मंदिर में करमैती बाई द्वारा दी उस कृष्ण मूर्ति की पूजा आज भी होती है। मूर्ति का महत्व जानने वाले आज भी काफी लोग मंदिर में दर्शनों के लिए जाते हैं।
श्री वृन्दावन धाम में एक स्थान रंगजी के मंदिर के पास ब्रह्मकुंड है वही भक्ति मति श्री करमैती बाई जी का साधना स्थान है। ब्रह्मकुंड पर भक्ति मति बाई की मूर्ति स्थापित है। दर्शन करके मन भाव विभोर हो जाता है।

Devotee Shiromani Karmaiti Bai, a resident of Khandela in Sikar district of Rajasthan, has become a great devotee of Krishna who left home on the very first night of her devotion to Krishna and set out for Vrindavan on foot. According to Bhaktamal Granth, after being hungry and thirsty for 18 days, Lord Krishna himself had appeared to him in the guise of a saint and got him to accept prasad. According to Bhaktamal, Karamati Bai was the daughter of Parshuramji, the priest of Shekhawat Raja of Khandela. Who was a Krishna devotee since childhood. At the age of 12, after marriage in the Joshi family of Sanganer, Jaipur, when her husband came to get a gauna done, she left the house on the very first night knowing the marital bond as an obstacle in devotion to Shri Krishna and left for Vrindavan on foot.

According to the book, when the king came to know about this, he got his horsemen behind to catch Karmaiti Bai. Seeing whom Karmaiti Bai hid in the shell of a dead camel. In which she stayed for three days. When the horsemen returned disappointed, then the shell came out. After this she reached Vrindavan with a group of sadhus. Where she started living in the devotion of Krishna at Brahmakund.
father went to celebrate, did not return
When the priest’s father got the news of Karmaiti Bai’s arrival in Vrindavan, he reached Bramhakund to receive her. While seeing the meditating daughter shedding tears in the love of Shri Krishna, his heart also became emotional. Father Parshuram also became unconscious after seeing the daughter’s love condition. When Karmaiti Bai’s attention was broken, the father told daughter Karmaiti about walking home and doing Shri Krishna bhajan. But saying ‘who has come here and gone back’, he asked his father to return. The king also became a devotee
According to Bhaktamal, after this Karmaiti Bai took out the idol from the Yamuna river and gave it to her father with the teachings of devotion. By establishing him in Khandela, the father also started getting engrossed in the devotion of Krishna. When Shekhawat Raja came to know about this, he also went to Vrindavan to meet Karmaiti Bai after meeting Parshuramji. Where she was found shedding tears in separation from Shri Krishna near Yamuna river. Due to the devotion of Karmaiti Bai, the king’s attitude also became devotional and with stubbornness, he built a cottage for Karmaiti Bai near Brahmakund. Then after returning, they also started getting engrossed in the devotion of Krishna.
The idol is worshiped even today
That Krishna idol given by Karmaiti Bai is still worshiped in the temple of Bihari ji in Khandela. Knowing the importance of the idol, even today many people visit the temple for darshan.
There is a place in Shri Vrindavan Dham near the temple of Rangji, there is Brahmakund, the same place of worship of Bhakti Mati Shri Karmaiti Bai Ji. The idol of Bhakti Mati Bai is installed at Brahmakund. The mind gets overwhelmed after seeing it. One say bhakt and bhagwan ki jai
