विश्व पर्यावरण दिवस पर्यावरण की सुरक्षा और संरक्षण हेतु पूरे विश्व में मनाया जाता है। इस दिवस को मनाने की घोषणा संयुक्त राष्ट्र ने पर्यावरण के प्रति वैश्विक स्तर पर राजनीतिक और सामाजिक जागृति लाने हेतु वर्ष 1972 में की थी। इसे 5 जून से 16 जून तक संयुक्त राष्ट्र महासभा द्वारा आयोजित विश्व पर्यावरण सम्मेलन में चर्चा के बाद शुरू किया गया था। 5 जून 1974 को पहला विश्व पर्यावरण दिवस मनाया गया।

पूरे संसार में पर्यावरण एक गम्भीर समस्या बन चुकी है। साल दर साल विश्व में पर्यावरण प्रदूषण की समस्या विकराल रूप धारण करती जा रही है। इंसानों ने अपनी शानो-शौकत के लिए संसाधनों का निर्माण किया, प्रकृति के साथ छेड़छाड़ किया। जिससे पर्यावरण पर बुरा असर पड़ा। इस बुरे असर से होने वाली समस्याओं से निपटने के लिए ही वैश्विक मंच बनाया गया। ताकि लोगों को इसके प्रति जागरूक किया जा सके।
जन जन में चेतना लाओ, पर्यावरण का अलख जगाओ
पर्यावरण की रक्षा, दुनियाँ की सुरक्षा
जीव – जन्तुओ को मत भगाओ, पर्यावरण बचाओ, पर्यावरण बचाओ.
जब हरियाली छाती है, जीवन में खुशियाँ आती है
पेड़ पौधे लगाओ, पर्यावरण को बचाओ
जब पेड़ लगाओगे, तब जीवन सुरक्षित पाओगे
जो देता पेड़ो को पानी, वही व्यक्ति है सच्चा ज्ञानी
पेड़ होंगे तो मिलेगी छाँव, वरना जलेंगे हमारे पाँव
मत काटो इन पेड़ो को इन में होती हे जान, बिन पेड़ो के हो जायेगा हम सब का जीवन सुनसान
एक दो एक दो, पेड़ काटना छोड़ दो
पर्यावरण को नहीं पहुँचाओ नुकसान, यह है जीवन का अपमान
ग्लोबल वार्मिंग से है खतरे में जान, पर्यावरण की रक्षा करना सबकी शान
