एक युद्ध, स्वयं के विरुद्ध

स्वयं द्वारा स्वयं के विरुद्ध छेड़ा जाने वाला संग्राम ही संयम कहलाता है। संयम अर्थात एक युद्ध स्वयं के विरुद्ध। संयम मानवीय गुणों में एक प्रधान गुण है। पशुओं में स्वयं के विरुद्ध कोई युद्ध देखने को नहीं मिलता। पशुओं में इन्द्रिय निग्रह देखने को नहीं मिलता अर्थात् पशुओं में संयम नहीं होता है।* *जिस जीवन में संयम नहीं वह जीवन पशु भले न हो मगर मगर पशुवत जरूर हो जाता है। असंयमितता जीवन को पतन की ओर ले जाती है। व्यक्ति केवल पैरों से ही नहीं फिसलता है अपितु कानों से, आखों से, जिह्वा से और मन से भी फिसल जाता है।*

*स्वयं के पैरों को गलत दिशा में जाने से रोकना, स्वयं के कानों को गलत श्रवण से रोकना, स्वयं की आँखों को कुदृश्य देखने से रोकना और स्वयं के मन को दुर्भावनाओं से बचाना, यह स्वयं के द्वारा स्वयं के विरुद्ध लड़ा जाने वाला संयम रुपी युद्ध ही तो है। जीवन में संयमी और शुभ कार्यों में अग्रणी, यही तो महापुरुषों के लक्षण हैं।* *🙏जय जय श्री राधे🙏*

The struggle waged by the self against the self is called self-control. Self-control means a war against oneself. Restraint is a prime quality in human qualities. No war is seen in animals against themselves. Sense control is not seen in animals, that means there is no restraint in animals. Incontinence leads life to downfall. A person does not slip only from the feet, but also from the ears, eyes, tongue and mind.

*Preventing one’s feet from going in the wrong direction, preventing one’s ears from hearing wrongly, preventing one’s eyes from seeing evil and protecting one’s mind from ill-will, this is self-control fought by oneself against oneself.
