मैंने ईश्वर से कहा -“मेरी सारी बुराइयाँ दूर कर दो !”
ईश्वर ने कहा -“नहीं !
वह इसलिये वहाँ नहीं हैं कि मैं उन्हें हटा दूँ। वह इसलिये वहाँ हैं कि तुम स्वयं उनका प्रतिरोध करो।”
मैंने ईश्वर से कहा -“मेरा शरीर पूर्ण कर दो !”
ईश्वर ने कहा – “नहीं !
तुम्हारी आत्मा पूर्ण है ; तुम्हारा शरीर तो अस्थायी है, उसे मर जाना है, जल जाना है।”
मैंने ईश्वर से कहा – “मुझे धैर्य दो !”
ईश्वर ने कहा – “नहीं !
धैर्य कठिनाइयों का परिणाम होता है। वह दिया नहीं जाता , सीखा जाता है।”
मैंने ईश्वर से कहा -“मुझे ख़ुशी दे दो !”
ईश्वर ने कहा – “नहीं !
मैं आशीर्वाद देता हूँ , ख़ुशी स्वयं तुम पर निर्भर करती है।”
मैंने ईश्वर से कहा – “मुझे दुःख – दर्द से छुटकारा दिला दो !”
ईश्वर ने कहा – “नहीं !
दुःख तुम्हें संसार से दूर ले जाते हैं और मेरे निकट लाते हैं।”
मैंने ईश्वर से कहा – “मेरी आत्मा का विकास करो !”
ईश्वर ने कहा – “नहीं !
तुम्हें स्वयं विकसित होना है क्योंकि मैं उसी की मदद करता हूँ , जो स्वयं अपनी मदद करते हैं।”
मैंने ईश्वर से कहा – “मुझे ऐसी चीज़ दो कि मुझे ज़िंदगी से प्यार हो जाये !”
ईश्वर ने कहा – “नहीं !
तुम मुझमें दिल लगाओ, ताकि तुम सत, चित्त और आनंद की अनुभूति कर सको !”
“प्रार्थना भीख माँगना नहीं है।”
साधना प्रारंभ करने के साथ जब हृदय में ‘विवेक’ जागता है , तब उपरोक्त प्रार्थना धीरे – धीरे यह स्वरूप लेने लगती हैं….
मैंने ईश्वर से कहा – “मुझे बिल्कुल अपने जैसा बना दो, ताकि मैं भी औरों से वैसे ही प्रेम कर सकूँ,जैसा आप सबसे करते हैं !”
ईश्वर ने कहा -“ओह !
तो आख़िर तुम्हारे अंदर यह ‘विवेक’ पैदा हो ही गया कि यदि तुम मेरी भाँति पूर्ण बनते हो तो तुम भी औरों से वैसे ही प्रेम कर सकोगे,जैसा मैं सबसे करता हूँ।”
अंततः मैंने ईश्वर से कहा- “हे नाथ !!…तू ही मनुष्य जीवन का वास्तविक ध्येय है।हम अपनी इच्छाओं के गुलाम हैं ,जो हमारी उन्नति में बाधक है।तू ही एकमात्र ईश्वर एवं शक्ति है ,जो हमें उस लक्ष्य तक ले चल सकता है।
ईश्वर ने गदगद होकर कहा -“हाँ , यह मैं अवश्य करूँगा मेरे बच्चे !
क्योंकि मुझसे ऐसी निः स्वार्थ अपेक्षा रखना तुम्हारा जन्म- सिद्ध अधिकार है और उसे पूरा करना मेरा परम् कर्तव्य !”जय जय श्रीराधे
I said to God – “Take away all my evils!” God said – “No! They are not there so that I can remove them. They are there so that you yourself can resist them.”
I said to God – “Complete my body!” God said – “No! Your soul is complete; Your body is temporary, it has to die, it has to burn.”
I said to God – “Give me patience!” God said – “No! Patience results from difficulties. It is not given, it is learned.”
I said to God – “Give me happiness!” God said – “No! I bless, happiness itself depends on you.”
I said to God – “Relieve me from pain and sorrow!” God said – “No! Suffering takes you away from the world and brings you closer to Me.”
I said to God – “Develop my soul!” God said – “No! You have to develop yourself because I help only those who help themselves.”
I said to God – “Give me something that will make me fall in love with life!” God said – “No! You put your heart in me, so that you can experience truth, mind and joy!”

When ‘conscience’ awakens in the heart with the beginning of sadhana, then the above prayers gradually start taking this form….
I said to God – “Make me exactly like you, so that I can love others the same way you love everyone!”
God said – “Oh! So finally this ‘conscience’ has arisen within you that if you become perfect like me, then you will also be able to love others the same way I love everyone.”
Finally I said to God – “O Nath!! … You are the real goal of human life. We are slaves of our desires, which hinder our progress. You are the only God and power, who can take us to that goal. Could.
