नृरसिंह जयंती वैशाख शुक्ल पक्ष की चतुर्दशी तिथि को मनाई जाती है। मान्यताओं और ग्रंथों के अनुसार इसी दिन भगवान विष्णु ने नरसिंह के रूप में अवतार लिया था और हिरण्यकश्यप का वध किया था।पौराणिक कथाओं के अनुसार इसी दिन भगवान विष्णु ने अवतार लिया था और इस संसार में धर्म की स्थापना के लिए हिरण्यकश्यप का वध किया था। इसलिए, इस दिन को पूरे देश में बहुत उत्साह के साथ नरसिंह जयंती के रूप में मनाया जाता है। नृरसिंह अवतार में भगवान विष्णु आधे शेर और आधे मानव के रूप में अवतार लिया था। नृरसिंह अवतार में उनका चेहरा और पंजे सिंह की तरह थे और शरीर का बाकी हिस्सा मानव की तरह था।
