भक्तमाल ग्रन्थ रचना
जानकी जी की प्रधान सखी चन्द्रकला जी ही आचार्य स्वामी श्रीअग्रदेवजी महाराज के रूप में प्रकट हुई है । एक बार प्रातः काल श्री अग्रदेव जी महाराज भगवान् श्री सीताराम जी की मानसी सेवा में संलग्न थे और उनके शिष्य श्री नाभाजी महाराज अतिकोमल अवं मधुर संरक्षण के साथ धीरे-धीर प्रेमसेे पंखा कर रहे थे । मानसी सवा में श्री अग्रदेव जी ने श्री सीताराम जी को सुंदर स्नान करवाया, प्रक्षालन किया ,श्रृंगार किया, वस्त्र अर्पण किये और अंतिम सेवा थी पुष्पमाला धारण करवाने की । श्री रामजी सर झुकाये खड़े है पुष्पमाला पहन ने के लिए ।
उसी सम श्री अग्रदास जी का एक व्यापारी सेठ शिष्य जहाज पर चढ़ा हुआ समुद्री यात्रा कर रहा था। जहाज से व्यापार करने दूर निकल था । उसका जहाज भँवर में फस गया , जहाज में बड़े के भीतर जल भरने लग गया । चालाक निरुपाय हो गये , उन्होंने कहा – समुद्र में अताह जल है, बेड़े में छिद्र है । बचना बहुत मुश्किल है सेठ जी , अब तो कोई चमत्कार हो जाए तो ही बचना संभव है । आपका जिसपर विश्वास हो उसीको याद कर लो । तब उस शिष्य ने सोचा की हमारे गुरुदेव श्री अग्रदेवजी बड़े सिद्ध महात्मा है , बहुत से लोग भी उनको सिद्ध कोटि के संत बताते है । वह श्री अग्रदेव जी का स्मरण करने लगा । उससे श्रीअग्रदेव जी का ध्यान अतिसुंदर स्वरुप भगवान् श्री सीतारामजी की सेवा से हट गया।
अग्रदेव जी सोचने लगे की अब क्या किया जाए , इधर सरकार सर झुकाये खड़े है और उधर शिष्य के प्राण संकट में है । सेवा छोड़ कर शिष्य को बचते है तो सेवा अपराध हो जायेगा और सेवा करने में लग गए तो शिष्य डूब जायेगा । इसी विचार में अग्रदेव जी कोई सही निर्णय नहीं ले पा रहे थे । गुरुदेव की मानसी सेवा में विघ्न जानकार श्री नाभाजी ने वही पर खड़े खड़े पंखे को जोर से चलाया । पंखा चला इधर और हवा का झोंक पंहुचा समुद्र में । नाविक को भी संत कृपा से बुद्धि सुझी और छिद्र का पता चल गया ,उसने अपनी एड़ी वह लगा ली और एक क्षण में ऐसा हवा का झोंक आया की जहाज किनारे पर लग गया ।
नाविक ने कहा – सेठ जी ! आखें खोलो । आपकी पुकार स्वीकार हो गयी , हम लोग दिनरात समुद्र में यात्रा करते है अतः हमें हवाओ की दिशा का ज्ञान है परंतु पता नहीं आज अचानक विपरीत दिशा से हवा का झोंक आया और जहाज किनारे आ गयी । व्यापारी ने कहा – तुम्हे हवा का झोंका दिखाई दिया ,मुझे तो गुरु कृपा का झोंका दिखाई दिया । अब अग्रदेव जी ने सोचा की आश्रित की लाज बचनी चाहिए , भगवान को माला पीछे पहनाएंगे पहले शिष्य के प्राण बचाने चाहिए । मन से गुप्त रूप में समुद्र पर पहुचे । वहाँ उन्हें ना कोई जहाज दिखाई पड़ा ना कोई शिष्य ना तूफ़ान । अब वे सोचने लगे की इतने विशाल समुद्र पर मेरे प्रभु ने सेतु कैसे बनाया होगा ? एक क्षण के लिए भी यह नहीं ठहर रहा । वे सेतुबंधन लीला के चिंतन में डूब गए ।
बहुत देर तक गुरुदेव नहीं लौटे , वही समुद्र पर सेतुबंधन लीला का स्मरण करने में मग्न हो गए । श्री नाभाजी ने सोचा अब थोडा ढिठाई करनी पड़ेगी अथवा प्रभु सर झुकाये ऐसे ही खड़े रह जायेंगे । श्रीगुरुदेव से नाभा जी ने नम्र निवेदन किया – प्रभो ! जहाज तो बहुत दूर निकल गया,अब आप कृपा कर के समुद्र को मत निहारिये , आप तो प्रिय प्रियतम के रूप समुद्र का दर्शन कीजिये , उसी शोभापूर्ण भगवान् की सेवा में पुनः लग जाइये। यह सुनकर श्री अग्रदेव जी ने आँखे खोली और देखने लगे की हमारे मन की बात किसने जान ली ?
उनहे लगा की शायद यहां कोई सिद्ध महात्मा आ गए है जिन्होंने मेरे ह्रदय की बात जान ली हो । उन्हें यह लगा ही नहीं की नाभा जी यह बात बोल सकते है । जब आस पास कोई नहीं दिखाई दिया तब नाभादास जी से पूछा की अभी कौन बोला ? किसकी आवाज हमने सुनी ? श्री नाभाजी ने हाथ जोड़कर कहा- जिस अनाथ को आपने कृपा करके जंगल से यहां लाया ,जिसको आपने बचपन से सीथ-प्रसाद (संतो के पत्तल में बचा शेष भोजन प्रसाद) देकर पाला है,आपके उसी दास ने अभी यह प्रार्थना की है।
श्री नभाजी का उपर्युक्त कथन सुनकर श्री अग्रदेव जी को महान् तथा नवीन आश्चर्य हुआ। मनमें विचार करने लगे कि इसका यहाँ मेरी मानसी सेवा में प्रवेश कैसे हो गया और यही खड़े खड़े इसने जहाज की रक्षा कैसे की? विचार करते ही उनके मन में बड़ी प्रसन्नता हुई। वे जान गए कि यह सब संतो की सेवा तथा उनकेे सीथ- प्रसाद ग्रहण करने का ही प्रभाव है,जिससे ऐसी दिव्या दृष्टि प्राप्त हो गयी है।
अब जो मानसी सेवा अधूरी रह गयी थी ,उसमे पुनः लग गए । विलंभ के लिए सखी चन्द्रकला जी(अग्रदेव जी ) ने क्षमा मांगी । प्रभु श्रीराम मुस्कुराते दिखाई पडे, चन्द्रकला जी ने पूछा की प्रभु आप क्यों मुस्कुरा रहे है ?प्रभु ने कहा – चन्द्रकला ! यह बालक जो आपकी सेवा में है यह कोई साधारण बालक नहीं है,साक्षात् ब्रह्मा जी ही है ।यह सब लीला हमारी इच्छा से हुई है, इस बालक के द्वारा जगत का बहुत बड़ा कल्याण होना है इसका बहुत अच्छे से संभल करना । प्रभु को माला पहनाकर मानसी सेवा से बहार आये और नारायणदास से कहा की तुमने हमारे पेट की बात (नाभि की बात ) जान ली इसीलिए तुम्हे जगत में नाभा नाम से जाना जायेगा ।

Janaki ji’s chief friend Chandrakala ji has appeared in the form of Acharya Swami Shri Agradevji Maharaj. Once in the morning, Shri Agradev Ji Maharaj was engaged in the mental service of Lord Shri Sitaram Ji and his disciple Shri Nabhaji Maharaj was fanning him slowly and lovingly with very gentle and sweet protection. In Mansi Sawa, Shri Agradev ji got Shri Sitaram ji given a beautiful bath, washed, adorned, offered clothes and the last service was to garland him. Shri Ramji is standing with his head bowed to wear the garland.
At the same time, a businessman and disciple of Shri Agradas ji was traveling on a ship. Had set out by ship for business. His ship got stuck in a whirlpool and water started filling inside the ship. The clever man became helpless, he said – there is limitless water in the sea, there is a hole in the raft. It is very difficult to escape, Seth ji, now it is possible to escape only if a miracle happens. Remember only those in whom you believe. Then that disciple thought that our Gurudev Shri Agradevji is a very accomplished Mahatma, many people also call him a accomplished saint. He started remembering Shri Agradev ji. Due to this, Shri Agradev ji’s attention got diverted from the service of the very beautiful form of Lord Shri Sitaram ji.
Agradev ji started thinking what to do now, here the government is standing with its head bowed and on the other side the life of the disciple is in danger. If you leave the service and save the disciple, then service will be a crime and if you start doing service, the disciple will drown. Due to this thought, Agradev ji was not able to take any right decision. Knowing about the obstacles in Gurudev’s mental service, Shri Nabhaji started fanning the fan while standing there. The fan started blowing here and there and the gust of wind reached the sea. The sailor also got wise by the grace of the saint and came to know about the hole, he put his heels on it and in a moment there was such a gust of wind that the ship touched the shore.
The sailor said – Seth ji! Open your eyes. Your call was accepted, we travel in the sea day and night, hence we know the direction of the winds, but today suddenly a gust of wind came from the opposite direction and the ship came to shore. The businessman said – You saw the gust of wind, I saw the gust of Guru’s grace. Now Agradev ji thought that the shame of the dependent should be saved, the life of the disciple should be saved first before garlanding the Lord. Reached the sea secretly from the mind. There he saw neither any ship nor any disciple nor any storm. Now they started thinking that how could my Lord have built a bridge on such a vast ocean? It is not stopping even for a moment. He got immersed in the contemplation of Setubandhan Leela.
Gurudev did not return for a long time, he was engrossed in remembering the Setubandhan Leela on the sea. Shri Nabhaji thought that now he will have to be a little bolder or the Lord will remain standing like this with his head bowed. Nabha ji made a humble request to Shri Gurudev – Lord! The ship has gone far away, now please do not look at the sea, look at the sea in the form of your beloved, and get engaged again in the service of the same beautiful God. Hearing this, Shri Agradev ji opened his eyes and started looking who knew what was in his mind?
He felt that perhaps some accomplished Mahatma had come here who had understood what was in his heart. It did not occur to him that Nabha ji could say this. When no one was seen around, I asked Nabhadas ji who had just spoken? Whose voice did we hear? Shri Nabhaji folded his hands and said – The orphan whom you kindly brought here from the forest, whom you nurtured since childhood by giving him Seeth-Prasad (the remaining food prasad left in the leaves of saints), your same slave has just prayed this.
Hearing the above statement of Shri Nabhaji, Shri Agradev ji got a great and new surprise. I started thinking in my mind that how did he enter my mental service here and how did he protect the ship while standing here? As soon as he thought about it, he felt very happy. They came to know that it was the effect of serving all the saints and accepting their Sith-Prasad, due to which such divine vision was attained.
Now, he again got engaged in the mental service which was left incomplete. Sakhi Chandrakala ji (Agradev ji) apologized for the delay. Lord Shri Ram was seen smiling, Chandrakala ji asked, Lord, why are you smiling? Lord said – Chandrakala! This child who is in your service is not an ordinary child, he is Brahma Ji himself. All this leela has happened as per our wish, this child will bring great benefit to the world, take good care of it. After garlanding the Lord, Mansi came out of the service and told Narayandas that you have known about our stomach (about the navel), that is why you will be known by the name Nabha in the world.
