धर्म की रक्षा के लिए भगवानों ने धरती पर अनके रूप लिए है. उन रूपों में एक रूप है हनुमान जी का. हनुमान जी ने त्रेतायुग में भगवान श्रीराम की रक्षा के लिए और दुष्टों का नाश करने के लिए अवतार लिया था. हनुमान जी का अवतार भगवान श्री शंकर के सबसे श्रेष्ठ अवतार माने जाते है.
महाभारत हो या रामायण दोनों में हनुमान जी ने अहम भूमिका निभाई है. रामायण में तो हनुमान जी श्री राम के प्रिय भक्त थे और महाभारत में भी अर्जुन के रथ से लेकर भीम की परीक्षा तक, कई जगह हनुमान के दर्शन हुए हैं. लेकिन क्या आपने कभी सोचा है कि रामायण या महाभारत के सभी पात्रों का समापन होने के बाबजूद भी हनुमान जी हजारों-लाखों सालों तक क्यों जीवित है. आखिर क्या है हनुमान जी के जीवित होने का राज ? आज हम आपको इस सवाल का जबाव बताने जा रहे है कि हनुमान जी हजारों-लाखों सालों के बाद भी क्यों जीवित है तो देर किस बात जानते है पूरा मामला.

वाल्मीकि रामायण के अनुसार
रावण की लंका में सीता माता को खोजने के बाद जब लाख कोशिशों के बाद हताश हो गए तो वे सीता माता को मृत समझ बैठे लेकिन हनुमान जी को श्री राम का स्मरण हुआ फिर वे पुनः जोश में खोजने के लिए शिव वाटिका पहुँच गए. और सीता माता को उन्होंने खोज निकाला. इससे प्रसन्न होकर सीता माता ने हनुमान को अमरता का वरदान दिया. इसीलिए हनुमान जी भगवान श्री राम के सभी भक्तों की रक्षा करते है.
हनुमान चालीसा की एक चौपाई में भी लिखा है-
अष्ट सिद्धि नौ निधि के दाता। अस बर दीन्ह जानकी माता।
अर्थात – ‘आपको माता श्री जानकी से ऐसा वरदान मिला हुआ है जिससे आप किसी को भी आठों सिद्धियां और नौ निधियां दे सकते हैं.
हनुमान ने सीता माता को क्यों वरदान वापस लेने को कहा ?
‘हे माता आपने मुझे अमरता का वरदान तो दे दिया लेकिन मैं मेरे भगवान श्री राम के बिना धरती पर क्या करूँगा तो आप अपना दिया हुआ वरदान वापस ले लीजिए’. इस बात को लेकर हनुमान जी सीता माता के सामने जिद पर अड़ जाते है और उस दौरान सीता श्री राम का स्मरण करती कुछ देर वहां पर श्री राम प्रकट हो जाते है. तब श्री राम हनुमान जी को यह समझाते है कि ‘देखो हनुमान धरती पर आने वाला हर प्राणी, चाहे वह संत है या देवता कोई भी अमर नहीं है. तुमको तो वरदान है हनुमान, एक समय ऐसा भी आएगा की की धरती पर कोई भी देवी देवता नहीं रहेगा तब धरती पर पापियों का नाश और राम के भक्तों का उद्धार तुम्हे ही करना पड़ेगा, इसलिए तुम्हे अमरता का वरदान दिया गया है. तब हनुमान अपने अमरता के वरदान को समझते हैं और राम की आज्ञा समझकर आज भी धरती पर विराजमान हैं.

It is also written in a couplet of Hanuman Chalisa-
Giver of eight accomplishments and nine treasures. This day Janaki’s mother.
Meaning – ‘You have received such a boon from Mata Shri Janaki that you can give all the eight Siddhis and nine Nidhis to anyone.
Why did Hanuman ask Sita Mata to take back the boon?
‘O Mother, you have given me the boon of immortality but what will I do on earth without my Lord Shri Ram, so please take back the boon you have given me. Hanuman ji is adamant in front of Sita Mata regarding this matter and during that time Sita remembers Shri Ram and Shri Ram appears there for some time. Then Shri Ram explains to Hanuman ji that ‘Look Hanuman, every creature that comes on earth, whether it is a saint or a god, no one is immortal. You have been blessed Hanuman, a time will come when there will be no Gods and Goddesses on earth, then you will have to destroy the sinners on earth and save the devotees of Ram, that is why you have been given the blessing of immortality. Then Hanuman understands his blessing of immortality and following the orders of Ram, he is still present on earth.
