There was a woman. Her name was Kanhbai. She used to worship the child form of Shri Krishna. It is said that when she used to rock Shri Krishna in the cradle, then he himself became an idol and she started rocking him the way a small child is rocked – Shri Krishna started giving him joy just like a mother. They would now appear before him all the time. Sometimes he would ask her to cook something to eat, sometimes he would ask her to do some other work, and that devoted woman would always act according to his wishes.
Once she went to some festival after putting God to sleep. For some reason could not return at night. After much of the night passed, Kanhbai and five-seven of the other gentlemen present there began to hear – as if a child was crying and saying – ‘ Mother! I am scared.’ On hearing this, Kanhbai said, ‘My child is crying.’ And at the same time she got up from there in a panic and went home. And went and coaxed God to sleep.
When his end came near, then Shri Krishna said – ‘ Mother! Now you leave here.’ Saying this, God went away with his soul and his life-birds flew away.
In this way, due to his feelings, he even took God under his control.
