पीड़ा एक समान
एक दुकानदार था – मनिराम। वह अपनी दुकानमें कुत्तेके बच्चे रखता था। एक दिन जब वह अपनी दुकान खोल रहा था, तभी किसीने उससे कहा- ‘मैं एक कुत्तेके बच्चेको खरीदना चाहता हूँ।’ मनिरामने पलटकर देखा, तो आठ-नौ सालका लड़का गज्जू मुसकुराता हुआ उसकी ओर देख रहा था। मनिरामने कहा- ‘ – ‘तुम्हें पता है, ये बच्चे कितने महँगे हैं ?’
गज्जूने कुछ देर सोचा फिर अपनी जेबसे बीस रुपये निकालकर बोला- ‘इतनेमें तो एक बच्चा आ जायगा ना ?’
मनिरामने व्यंग्यभरी मुसकानसे उसकी ओर देखा और कहा—’इतने रुपयोंमें तो तुम सिर्फ उन्हें देख सकते हो।’ यह कहकर उसने सीटी बजायी। एक-एक करके सारे कुत्तेके बच्चे बाहर आ गये। गज्जू कुत्तेके बच्चोंको
देखकर बहुत खुश हुआ। तभी उसकी नज़र सबसे पीछे आ रहे कुत्तेके बच्चेपर पड़ी। वह बहुत कमजोर था और घिसटते हुए चल रहा था। उसे देखकर गज्जूने कहा ‘मुझे यही बच्चा चाहिये।’ मनिरामको कुछ समझमें नहीं आया कि इतने अच्छे-अच्छे बच्चोंको छोड़कर, इसे ये कमजोर बच्चा क्यों चाहिये। वह गज्जूसे बोला- ‘यह बच्चा तुम्हारे कामका नहीं है। यह दूसरोंकी तरह तुम्हारे साथ खेल नहीं पायेगा। तुम इसका क्या करोगे ?”
गज्जूने अपनी पैंट ऊपर खींची। उसके पैरोंमें लगी लोहेकी सलाखें देखकर मनिराम चौंक गया। गज्जूने कहा-‘मैं भी इसीकी तरह भाग नहीं सकता। हम दोनों एक जगह बैठकर खूब खेलेंगे।’ गज्जूकी बात मनिरामके मनको छू गयी। उसने कुत्तेका वह बच्चा गज्जूको उपहार स्वरूप दे दिया। [ श्रीबंकटलालजी आसोपा ]

There was a shopkeeper – Maniram. He used to keep puppies in his shop. One day when he was opening his shop, someone said to him – ‘I want to buy a puppy.’ When Maniram looked back, Gajju, an eight-nine year old boy, was smilingly looking at her. Maniram said – ‘ – ‘Do you know how expensive these children are?’
Gajjuna thought for a while, then took out twenty rupees from his pocket and said – ‘With this much, a child will come, right?’

Very happy to see. That’s why his eyes fell on the puppy coming from behind. He was very weak and was dragging his feet. Seeing him, Gajjuna said, ‘I want this child.’ Maniram did not understand why he needed this weak child leaving so many good children. He said to Gajju – ‘ This child is of no use to you. It won’t be able to play with you like the others. what do you do It ?”
Gajjuna pulled up his pants. Maniram was shocked to see the iron bars on his feet. Gajjuna said – ‘I too cannot run away like this. We both will play a lot sitting in one place. Gajju’s words touched Maniram’s heart. He gave that baby dog to Gajju as a gift. [Shribankatlalji Asopa]
