“वीर सैनिक! घूम जाओ, आगे बढ़नेपर प्राण चले जायँगे।’ राजकन्याने घोड़ेके सवारको सावधान किया। वह सुन्दर से – सुन्दर वस्त्र पहने समुद्रतटपर किसीकी प्रतीक्षा कर रही थी।
‘परमात्मामें विश्वास रखनेवाला, उनकी कृपापर निर्भर रहनेवाला किसीसे भी नहीं डरता, मृत्यु भी उसके सामने आनेमें संकोच करती है।’ सैनिक आगे बढ़ आया; उसके हाथमें तलवार और भाला था। राजकन्या उसे देखकर आपादमस्तक सिहर उठी। पीछे कुछ दूरसे लोग जोर-जोरसे चिल्ला रहे थे; वेदल–दलवाली पहाड़ीपर बने नगरके प्राचीरपर खड़े होकर समुद्रकी ओर देख रहे थे।
‘इस समुद्रमेंसे अभी कुछ ही क्षणोंमें एक काला नाग निकलनेवाला है। समुद्रकी नीली नीली तरङ्गका रंग काला होता जा रहा है। इस नागने अनेक बार हमारे नगरमें प्रवेश कर अनेक पशु-पक्षी और प्राणियोंका प्राणान्त कर डाला है। प्रत्येक वर्ष एक कुमारी इसकी पूजाके लिये इस स्थानपर उपस्थित होती है और नाग उसका भक्षण करता है। यदि नगरकी ओरसे उसे पूजा नहीं मिलती है तो वह नित्य नगरमें प्रवेश कर उत्पात करताहै।’ राजकन्या शबराने अपनी उपस्थितिका कारण बताया। ‘ तुमलोग भगवान्को नहीं मानते हो इसीसे यह उत्पात हो रहा है। भगवद्भक्तोंका इन विषैले पदार्थोंसे कोई अमङ्गल नहीं हो सकता।’ इंगलैंडकी राज कन्याका सैनिक जार्जने समाधान किया।
समुद्रकी उत्ताल तरङ्गे फेनिल हो उठीं और भयंकर नाग विष वमन करता हुआ समुद्रतटपर आ गया। उसके मुखसे विकराल ज्वाला निकल रही थी । नागने जार्जपर आक्रमण किया। जार्जने भाला चलाया, पर उसके हजार टुकड़े हो गये। वीर जार्ज शान्त चित्तसे भगवान्की प्रार्थना करने लगे। नागकी शक्ति कुण्ठितहो गयी। भगवान्के भक्तने उसे अपने वशमें कर लिया। शबरा और जार्ज नगरकी ओर बढ़ने लगे और नाग शान्तिसे उनके पीछे-पीछे चलने लगा। बाजारमें पहुँचते ही लोग नागको देखकर इधर-उधर भागने लगे।
‘भाई ! डरनेकी बात ही नहीं है। परमात्माकी शक्तिमें विश्वास करो; परमात्माकी भक्ति प्रदान करनेके लिये ही मैंने नागको अपने पीछे-पीछे आनेकी प्रेरणा दी है ।’ – जार्जने राजधानीके लोगोंमें परमात्माके प्रति विश्वास पैदा किया। वे ईश्वर-विश्वासीके सम्पर्कसे आस्तिक हो गये। संत जार्जके जीवनकी यह एक महान् घटना कही जाती है।

This snake has entered our city many times and killed many animals and birds. Every year a virgin comes to this place to worship it and the snake eats it. If he does not get worship from the city, then he enters the city daily and creates mischief.’ Princess Shabra told the reason for her presence. ‘ You people don’t believe in God, that’s why this mischief is happening. No evil can happen to the devotees of Bhagavad from these poisonous substances.’ The soldier George of England’s princess resolved.
The raging waves of the sea became frothy and the fierce snake vomited poison and came to the beach. Fierce flame was coming out of his mouth. The serpent attacked George. George shot the spear, but it broke into a thousand pieces. Brave George started praying to God with a calm mind. Snake’s power got frustrated. The devotee of God took him under his control. Shabra and George started moving towards the city and Nag started following them peacefully. As soon as they reached the market, people started running hither and thither seeing the snake.
‘Brother ! There is nothing to be afraid of. believe in the power of the divine; I have inspired the snake to follow me only to give devotion to God.’ – George instilled faith in the divine in the people of the capital. He became a believer by contact with a God-believer. This is said to be a great event in the life of Saint George.
