‘कर्मफल तो भोगना ही पड़ता है’

मार्गमें एक घायल सर्प तड़फड़ा रहा था। सहस्रों चींटियाँ उससे चिपटी थीं। पाससे एक सत्पुरुष शिष्यके साथ जा रहे थे। सर्पकी दयनीय दशा देखकर शिष्यने कहा-‘कितना दुखी है यह प्राणी।’
गुरु बोले- ‘कर्मफल तो सबको भोगना ही पड़ता है।’
शिष्य- ‘इस सर्पने ऐसा क्या पाप किया कि सर्पयोनिमें भी उसे यह कष्ट।’
गुरु – ‘तुम्हें स्मरण नहीं कि कुछ वर्ष पूर्व इस सरोवर के किनारेसे हमलोग जा रहे थे, तो तुमने एक | मछुएको मछली मारनेसे रोका था।’
शिष्य- – ‘वह दुष्ट मेरे रोकनेपर मेरा ही उपहास करने लगा था।’
गुरु -‘आज वही सर्प और उसने जिन मछलियोंको मारा था, उन्हें अपना बदला लेनेका अवसर मिला है। वे चींटियाँ होकर उत्पन्न हुई।

‘One has to bear the fruits of one’s actions’
An injured snake was writhing on the way. Thousands of ants were clinging to it. A good man was passing by with his disciple. Seeing the pathetic condition of the snake, the disciple said – ‘How sad this creature is.’
Guru said – ‘Everyone has to bear the fruits of their actions.’
Disciple- ‘What sin did this snake commit that it suffered this pain even in Sarpayoni.’
Guru – ‘Don’t you remember that a few years ago we were going from the banks of this lake, then you The fisherman was stopped from fishing.
Disciple – ‘That rascal started making fun of me when I stopped him.’
Guru – ‘Today the same snake and the fishes it killed have got an opportunity to take their revenge. They were born as ants.
