4 ] क्षणिक सुखकी तृष्णा विनाशका कारण बनती है
एक दूकानमें मधुका बर्तन उलटकर गिर गया था। इससे चारों ओर मधु फैल गया। मधुकी सुगन्ध पाकर झुण्ड की – झुण्ड मक्खियाँ आकर मधु खाने लगीं। जबतक एक बूँद भी मधु पड़ा रहा, वे उस स्थानसे हिलीं नहीं। अधिक देरतक वहाँ रहनेसे क्रमश: सभी मक्खियोंके पाँव मधुसे लिपट गये। उसके बाद मक्खियाँ प्रयास करतीं रह गयीं, पर उड़ न सकीं और बादमें भी उड़नेकी आशा नहीं रही। तब वे अपने आपको धिक्कारते हुए शिकायतके स्वरमें कहने लगीं, ‘हम कैसी मूर्ख हैं, क्षणिक सुखके लिये हमने प्राण दे दिये।’
इसी प्रकार जो मूर्ख मनुष्य जीभके स्वादके लोभमें पड़ जाते हैं, वे अपना स्वास्थ्य नष्ट कर देते हैं और शीघ्र ही मृत्युके मुखमें चले जाते हैं।
4] The craving for momentary happiness becomes the cause of destruction
In a shop, the honey vessel had fallen overturned. This spread honey all around. After getting the smell of honey, swarms of bees came and started eating honey. As long as even a drop of honey remained there, she did not move from that place. By staying there for a long time, the feet of all the bees got smeared with honey. After that the flies kept trying, but could not fly, and later also there was no hope of flying. Then she started cursing herself and said in a voice of complaint, ‘How foolish we are, we gave our lives for momentary happiness.’
Similarly, those foolish people who fall in love with the taste of the tongue, destroy their health and soon go to the face of death.
