पुजारीको आश्चर्य

वृन्दावनमें एक महात्मा हो गये हैं। उनका नाम था नारायणस्वामी। वे कुसुमसरोवरपर रहा करते थे। वहीं मन्दिरका एक पुजारी भी रहता था। एक दिन पुजारीने देखा – नारायणस्वामी पागलकी तरह कुसुमसरोवरसे गिरिराजकी ओर दौड़े जा रहे हैं। गिरिराजके पास जाकर वे फिर पीछेकी ओर लौटे तथा कुसुमसरोवरके पासतक दौड़ आये। पुनः गिरिराजकी ओर दौड़े और वैसे ही फिर पीछे लौट आये। इस प्रकार कितनी बार उस ओर दौड़े, फिर पीछे लौटे और पुनः उसी ओर दौड़ गये। पुजारीको आश्चर्य हुआ, पर उसने कुछ पूछा नहीं। किंतु दूसरे दिन भी नारायणस्वामीजी वैसे ही दौड़ते रहे। आज संध्याके समय पुजारीने उनके चरण पकड़कर पूछा- महाराज! ‘इस प्रकार आप दौड़ते क्यों रहते हैं ?” नारायणस्वामीजीने कुछ भी उत्तर देना नहीं चाहा। पर पुजारी उनके पीछे पड़ गया। अन्ततोगत्वा उसका अतिशय प्रेम देखकर स्वामीजी बोले-‘देखो, भैया! मैंजाता हूँ कुसुमसरोवरपर बैठकर भजन करने। जैसे बैठता हूँ कि मुझे दीखता है- भगवान् श्रीकृष्ण कुछ दूरपर खड़े हैं। उस समय उनकी सुन्दर शोभा देखकर मैं पागल हो जाता हूँ और उन्हें पकड़ने दौड़ता हूँ, किंतु वे भाग चलते हैं। मैं पीछे-पीछे दौड़ता हूँ। गिरिराजके पास पहुँचनेपर दीखता है कि वे मेरे पीछेकी ओर खड़े हैं और मैं उन्हें पकड़नेके लिये पीछे दौड़ पड़ता हूँ। | इसी प्रकार आज कई दिनोंसे दौड़ रहा हूँ।’

पुजारीने पूछा- ‘महाराजजी ! उनसे कोई बात आप नहीं पूछते ?’

स्वामीजी बोले- ‘पहले तो बहुत-सी बातें याद | रहती हैं। सोचता भी हूँ कि यह पूछ लूँगा, वह पूछ | लूँगा; किंतु उनके दीखते ही और सब भूल जाता हूँ, केवल उनकी याद बच रहती है।’

इन नारायणस्वामीको भगवान्‌की दिव्य लीलाओंके भी दर्शन कई बार हुआ करते थे।

There is a Mahatma in Vrindavan. His name was Narayanswamy. He used to live on Kusumsarover. A priest of the temple also lived there. One day the priest saw that Narayan Swami was running like a madman from Kusumsarover to Giriraj. After going to Giriraj, he returned back and ran till Kusumsarovar. Again ran towards Giriraj and returned back in the same way. In this way how many times he ran in that direction, then came back and again ran in the same direction. The priest was surprised, but he did not ask anything. But on the second day also Narayanswamiji kept running like that. Today in the evening the priest held his feet and asked – Maharaj! ‘Why do you keep running like this?’ Narayan Swamiji did not want to answer anything. But the priest followed him. At last, seeing his immense love, Swamiji said – ‘Look, brother! I see that Lord Krishna is standing at some distance. At that time, seeing his beautiful beauty, I go mad and run to catch him, but he runs away. I run behind. On reaching Giriraj, it is seen that he is following me. They are standing and I run behind to catch them. I have been running like this for many days today.’
The priest asked – ‘ Maharajji! You don’t ask him anything?’
Swamiji said – ‘First of all remember many things. Lives I also think that I will ask this, ask that. will take But as soon as I see him, I forget everything else, only his memory remains.’
This Narayanaswami used to have darshan of Lord’s divine pastimes many times.
