एक संत कहीं जा रहे थे। एक दुष्ट व्यक्ति उन्हें गालियाँ देता हुआ उनके पीछे-पीछे चल रहा था। संतने उससे कुछ कहा नहीं, वे चुपचाप चलते रहे; किंतु जब कुछ घर दिखायी पड़ने लगे, तब वे खड़े हो गये। उन्होंने उस व्यक्तिसे कहा’भाई! तुम्हें जो कुछ कहना हो, यहीं कह लो । मैं खड़ा हूँ। आगे उन घरोंमें मुझसे सहानुभूति रखनेवाले लोग रहते हैं। वे तुम्हारी बातें सुनेंगे तो तुम्हें तंग कर सकते हैं।’ दुष्ट व्यक्ति लज्जित होकर क्षमा माँगने लगा।
A saint was going somewhere. An evil person was following them abusing them. The saint did not say anything to him, he kept walking silently; But when some houses were visible, then they stood up. He said to that person ‘Brother! Say whatever you want to say here. I’m standing. Further, people who sympathize with me live in those houses. If they listen to you, they can harass you.’ The wicked person felt ashamed and started apologizing.
