ईश्वरको कौन जानता है ?

एक बारकी बात है, एक हाथी तालाबमें नहा रहा था। एक छोटा-सा चूहा कहींसे आकर हाथीपर चिल्लाने लगा- ‘हाथी महोदय, तुरंत तालाबसे बाहर आइये।’ हाथी अनसुनी करके नहाता रहा। चूहा फिर चिल्लाया- ‘पानीसे जल्दी निकलो। मुझे अति आवश्यक बात करनी है। देर मत करो।’
हाथी नहाता रहा। चूहा चिढ़ गया और उसने धमकी भरे स्वरमें कहा—’हाथी महोदय, अगर तुम तालाबसे नहीं निकले तो अंजाम अच्छा नहीं होगा।’ इतना सुनकर, हाथीने नहाना छोड़ा और तालाबसे बाहर निकला। चूहेने घूम-फिरकर हाथीको सरसे पाँवतक, सूँड़से पूँछतक देखा, फिर बोला ‘
अच्छा, तुम अब जा सकते हो।’ हाथी गुस्सेसे तिलमिला गया और बोला- ‘तुमने मुझे क्यों परेशान किया ?’
चूहेने शान्त स्वरमें कहा- ‘ -‘मुझे अपने तैरनेकी पोशाक नहीं मिल रही थी। मैं देख रहा था, कहीं तुमने तो नहीं पहनी है।’
चूहा इतना अज्ञानी था कि उसे यह भी आभास नहीं हुआ कि वह कितना छोटा है और हाथी कितना विशाल ! वह घमण्डमें चूर था। वस्तुतः हम लोग भी इस चूहेकी तरह ही हैं, जो अपने अहंमें ईश्वरकी महानताको नहीं समझ पाते हैं।
एक हाथी तो फिर भी शायद चूहेकी पोशाकमें घुस जाय, पर हम इंसान अपनी सीमित सामर्थ्य से सर्वव्यापी ईश्वरकी अपार महिमाका बोध करनेमें असमर्थ हैं। सृष्टिके आरम्भ से ही मनुष्यने ईश्वरकी महानताको मापना चाहा, पर असफल रहा।
बहुतसे धर्म ईश्वरका वर्णन करनेकी चेष्टामें मताग्रही और हठधर्मी हैं। बहुत कहते हैं, कर्म ही ईश्वर है और कई ऐसे हैं, जो ईश्वरका अस्तित्व ही नकारते हैं। ईश्वर समस्त बुद्धिके स्वामी हैं, सर्वव्यापी हैं; मनुष्यके मन, बुद्धि और कल्पना – शक्तिसे परे हैं। इसलिये जो महान् ऋषि ईश्वरकी खोजमें बहुत आगे बढ़ चुके हैं, उनका भी यही कहना है कि शब्दोंद्वारा ईश्वरतक पहुँचना या उनकी कल्पना करना असम्भव है।
‘केनोपनिषद्’ में कहा गया है
जिसने ईश्वरको नहीं देखा है, वह समझता है कि वह ईश्वरको जानता है। जिसने ईश्वरको देखा है, वह सोचता है, वह ईश्वरको जानता ही नहीं। महासागरके तटपर खड़ा व्यक्ति महासागरको तो देखता है, पर उसकी गहराई और विशालताको नहीं समझ पाता। इसी तरह हमारे संकुचित मन और अल्प दृष्टिसे यह सम्भव ही नहीं कि हम ईश्वरकी महिमाको जान सकें।

Who knows God?

Once upon a time, an elephant was bathing in a pond. A small mouse came from somewhere and started shouting at the elephant – ‘Mr. elephant, immediately come out of the pond.’ The elephant continued to bathe unheard. The rat again shouted – ‘Get out of the water quickly. I have something very important to talk about. Don’t be late.’
The elephant kept bathing. The mouse got irritated and said in a threatening voice – ‘Elephant sir, if you don’t come out of the pond, the result will not be good.’ Hearing this, the elephant left the bath and came out of the pond. The mouse went around and looked at the elephant till its hind legs, from its trunk till its tail, then said.
Ok, you can go now.’ The elephant got angry and said – ‘Why did you bother me?’
The mouse said in a calm voice – ‘ – ‘I could not find my swimming costume. I was seeing, you are not wearing it.’
The mouse was so ignorant that it did not even realize how small it was and how huge the elephant was! He was full of pride. In fact, we are also like this rat, who do not understand the greatness of God in their ego.
Even then an elephant may enter in the dress of a mouse, but we humans with our limited capacity are unable to understand the immense glory of the omnipresent God. From the beginning of creation man tried to measure the greatness of God, but failed.
Many religions are dogmatic and dogmatic in their attempts to describe God. Many say that Karma is God and there are many who deny the existence of God. God is the master of all intelligence, omnipresent; It is beyond human mind, intellect and imagination. That’s why the great sages who have gone far ahead in the search for God, also say that it is impossible to reach God through words or imagine Him.
It is said in ‘Keno Upanishad’
One who has not seen God, thinks that he knows God. The one who has seen God thinks, he does not know God at all. The person standing on the bank of the ocean sees the ocean, but cannot understand its depth and vastness. Similarly, with our narrow mind and narrow vision, it is not possible for us to know the glory of God.
